I can’t get this to work on my device. Is it still rolling out or some devices just won’t support future tech?

Wow, looks great! Definitely most people play on mobile (aka android) so this is a great update

What kind of device are you on?

My phone is a Motorola Moto G54 5G

Okay. It (might) only work on google phones, but i’m not 100% sure

Working on a Xiaomi 13T Pro, it’s probably dependent on graphics API and certain whitelisted devices only.

The dreaded light leaking problem, hhhh.

I’ve had to deal with that nonsense too before and it gets especially problematic when you’re constructing a room where you physically cannot make the walls thicker since it would otherwise potentially clip into something else or because the walls are visible from two sides.

I hope Roblox improves that soon.

future is bright on android before gta 6 is crazy.

but honestly whether it’s android or not, it’s nice when Roblox provides us with any updates to the lighting engine.

i still want future at graphics level 5 and above ;-;
(i can run future at 30fps when playing in windows mode and its cool)

edit : when your laggy, it decreased texture resolution soo its good

For some devices it’s an architecture technical limitation: OpenGL/OpenGL ES doesn’t work with Future. You can test this by opening Studio and setting Graphics Mode to OpenGL: Future will cease to work and downgrade to Voxel.

This is possible on PC using FFlags. This will just lag out my phone because every game wants to use Future lighting for whatever reason.

You need to add blocks behind walls with shadows setting enabled or make walls thicker and make sure that shadows on walls are enabled as well, also ground must have shadows enabled too otherwise it will not receive shadows on top of it.

My android device supports Vulcan

even without setting it to OpenGL, my PC still has shadowmap cuz doesnt support Vulcan, or Direct3D 11

your PC is lagging or doesnt have that much ram, or roblox is broken

1 question

Does dpi scaling affect future lighting’s performance?

How much is “that much ram”?
I’m running with 16gb, under 60% usage across my device and I’m still seeing pixelated shadows.

Perhaps this is because Roblox in itself doesn’t scale it’s usage with device specs?
Still would be nice to have shadow quality improved in some way.

How much would we be able to actually control and what exactly? Look, the primary feature you guys should be adding would be some sort of light baking. Most of the games on the site use static worlds which have 0 need for anything dynamic. Light baking will allow the developers of said games to utilize higher quality lighting without detonating performance and without cutting corners in super glaring and obvious ways.

They just don’t scale up, nothing from the engine actually scales up. The only “scaling” that occurs is just them setting some pretty low “default” levels and only going down from there automatically and magically.
Shadows are just low resolution by default.

roblox really needs to make textures like high quality in higher graphics. like when your roblox textures are bugged for some reason (me, like every texture is blurry), even on high quality its blurry (i have enough ram, like 8 gb)
