So, as you may know, Roblox has the “Future” lighting technology, but personally, when I use it no lights are showing up, but whenever I’m on another lighting technology, lights do show up.
I’ve tried to reinstall Roblox Studio, but it just refuses to work, neither does this work ingame. I dont know if anyone else is experiencing this but personally this ruins my experience using Roblox Studio.
Expected Behavior
I’ve personally expected the light to work and to have the beautiful shadows future technology has to offer.
When I switched to Future I had a similar issue,
in my case it was the Shadows property being enabled while the lights were inside of a part. The part just blocked its own light.
A solution that worked for me, if you haven’t already tried it, was putting the lights in attachments and moving those attachments below their parts.
Shadows disabled, and i just put it outside the part and still nothing, and its not a local problem on this baseplate its everywhere like every game something just ruined my lighting
The issue is the settings are reversed. The lower the detail setting, the more lightning that is enabled properly. The higher the detail setting, the more lightning that is disabled. Automatic detail has the same issue, it uses higher settings on faster PCs and thus no lightning. I sent a bug report about it a while back, so hopefully between all of us submitting bug reports, they can get it fixed. It also affects Studio with the reverse settings issue. For now, use Voxel or the other lighting tech until it is fixed.
It seems to cause lights in Future technology to not render at all, while anything in graphics level 4 or below renders.
This is a really disruptive bug for us, since our map is almost entirely indoors.
Somehow, it works perfectly fine for my friend the light is showing, future and automatic rendering. So I just have no idea whats going on because its not from studio itself. I’ve reinstalled studio over and over again, I think its a hardware issue also because it didn’t work my alt.
Had a similar issue happen to one of my games too, was hoping to enable future lighting but the light get’s way too dark to the point that’s it’s practically not emitting light at all, this only occurs in future lighting mode.
I have the exact same issue, when I play games Future lighting will not work on higher graphics levels. Oddly, this does not occur in studio for me, but it always occurs in-game. I hope Roblox sorts this out quickly, as it makes the game unplayable due to the low quality of lower graphics settings.
Example given here. This is another person’s work, and it works on their end.
Furthering this, the light is there, it’s just not rendering client-side.
With specular scale set to 1, and brightness turned to maximum on the spotlight, the lighting engine is recognizing that a light should be there. It just won’t render the actual dynamic light.
Yes, I noticed the future lighting still lags more at higher graphics level even though I see nothing. I assume the light is calculated but not rendered. I hope Roblox responds to this in some kind of way.
Same problem in studio and on roblox, Point, spot, surface lights do not work in every game with future lighting. Changing the vulkan render makes it work in studio but not on roblox.
