Shadows disabled, and i just put it outside the part and still nothing, and its not a local problem on this baseplate its everywhere like every game something just ruined my lighting
Odd, might be worth adding a place file as my games seem to be unaffected.
Hope this gets addressed soon for you.
The issue is the settings are reversed. The lower the detail setting, the more lightning that is enabled properly. The higher the detail setting, the more lightning that is disabled. Automatic detail has the same issue, it uses higher settings on faster PCs and thus no lightning. I sent a bug report about it a while back, so hopefully between all of us submitting bug reports, they can get it fixed. It also affects Studio with the reverse settings issue. For now, use Voxel or the other lighting tech until it is fixed.
I’ve been getting reports about this since roughly 2 days ago in SCP: Roleplay.

It seems to cause lights in Future technology to not render at all, while anything in graphics level 4 or below renders.
This is a really disruptive bug for us, since our map is almost entirely indoors.
Somehow, it works perfectly fine for my friend the light is showing, future and automatic rendering. So I just have no idea whats going on because its not from studio itself. I’ve reinstalled studio over and over again, I think its a hardware issue also because it didn’t work my alt.
I’m experiencing this issue as well. Lights just aren’t working with Future at all anymore, both in studio and in game.
This doesn’t seem to be happening to most people.
Had a similar issue happen to one of my games too, was hoping to enable future lighting but the light get’s way too dark to the point that’s it’s practically not emitting light at all, this only occurs in future lighting mode.
No that’s probably because a block is blocking the light but this time it’s on Roblox’s end
I have the exact same issue, when I play games Future lighting will not work on higher graphics levels. Oddly, this does not occur in studio for me, but it always occurs in-game. I hope Roblox sorts this out quickly, as it makes the game unplayable due to the low quality of lower graphics settings.
Example given here. This is another person’s work, and it works on their end.
This is not the case, a block is not blocking my light at all, it’s just not emitting any / much light.
my bad I read it wrong I’m having the same issue!
Furthering this, the light is there, it’s just not rendering client-side.
With specular scale set to 1, and brightness turned to maximum on the spotlight, the lighting engine is recognizing that a light should be there. It just won’t render the actual dynamic light.
Really strange bug. Reflective light is working perfectly fine.
Yes, I noticed the future lighting still lags more at higher graphics level even though I see nothing. I assume the light is calculated but not rendered. I hope Roblox responds to this in some kind of way.
Same problem in studio and on roblox, Point, spot, surface lights do not work in every game with future lighting. Changing the vulkan render makes it work in studio but not on roblox.
As a temporary (or permanent if you will) solution for Studio, have you changed GraphicsMode to Vulkan or any other mode except OpenGL? Something is up with OpenGL that fails to make shadowmaps for non-directional light sources.
For the Player though, I have no clue.
would you mind providing more information? like the system spec and repro place. logs would be even better. thank you!
we’ve identified and disabled offending code, thanks for reporting! will fix asap
It appears as though a fix was attempted recently as we can actually see all 3 versions of the lights now (at the beginning it was 0 lights, the next fix allowed 2 out of the 3 light options to be seen) but the lighting and shadows are still bugged in some way at all quality levels (not showing crisp shadows, light reflecting off of surfaces it shouldn’t be).
Thanks for keeping up with this, I just switched it back on in my game and all the fancy lighting was working again. Tried some other games that got the black screen due to the lighting bug and now they work, I can see where I am going, etc. It may not be perfect, but at least it’s a move in the right direction to fixing everything. I didn’t realize how much I missed the fancy light system
