Game description not auto-translating

Our studio recently released a new game called ‘Grow BIG Animals’ and we’ve been changing the game description to see which variation does better. However at some point the description stopped auto-translating. It has been 4-5 days since we changed the game description.

Expected behavior

The game description should properly auto translate each time it’s changed.

Hello @Jackfruitfruit , thanks for reaching out. In the screenshot, under Translation History, you can see multiple occurrences of first an automatic translation saying “LowQualityInput. To be deleted”, and then, according to the timestamps, a few instants later, a second automatic translation with empty value. It’s a bit confusing, granted, but what it manages to tell us is that the source text is low quality input and we were unable to translate it, so we provided a placeholder translation (value = “LowQualityInput. To be deleted”) and then deleted it (value = empty). I believe this is what’s causing the translation value to be empty.

Here are a few things you can try:

  1. Beware of emojis, return characters, quotation characters and so on. These can create challenges for translation, causing it to be marked as low quality input.
  2. Different languages face different challenges. In fact, can you check if the description is auto-translated in other languages besides Arabic?
  3. If it’s difficult to avoid the low quality input situation, you can give us a final version of the description and we can do our best in the backend systems to provide a translation for you.

We’re sorry you’re running into this issue, and we hope the above tips can provide some help.

I checked every other language and the description remains untranslated anywhere else. The emojis are necessary to highlight important aspects of the game - would it be possible to attempt the backend approach? The current game description is the final version, thanks in advance!

Hi @Jackfruitfruit , could you provide more information on other languages? Do they also show “LowQualityInput” in the translation history? Screenshots would be nice. We’d like to try to find out why it’s not working for all languages.

Yes, it is the same result for every single language. These are just a few image references but the same result continues all the way down the language list.

This is the game description I am trying to have translated:

Do you like animals and want a lot of them? Hatch eggs and relax as your baby animals grow into giants - even when you are offline!

:hourglass_done: Animals grow all the time, even when you are offline!
:phoenix: Find the rarest animals and get rich!
:wrapped_gift: Unlock rare items that boost your progress
:test_tube: Visit the lab and get REALLY BIG animals
:ribbon: Decorate your zoo however you like!

The weather changes occasionally and causes your animals to mutate…
What do you call a rabbit that got struck by lightning?

BIG animals. BIG zoo. BIG rich.

:+1: Thanks for playing, please like the game if you enjoy it!

Codes can be found in-game through the menu button at the top right corner of your screen

Is your game crashing? Try making a free private server and turn off the ‘Animals In Other Zoos’ setting

Thanks for providing the additional information. We’re looking into it to understand the issue. We’ll provide you with a solution as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience.

We’ve decided to shorten our description to have it auto-translated. The issue likely persists but the issue for this specific bug report can be considered addressed. Thanks for the assistance!

Thank you @Jackfruitfruit! We’d appreciate it if you could provide some insight into how you modified the string to achieve auto translation. Was it an issue with the emojis, or something else as well? This will help us fix the underlying issue and prevent any future inconveniences. Thanks!

I took your advice and entirely removed the emojis and it worked, the new game description is as follows:

Do you like animals and want to have a lot of them? Hatch eggs and relax as your baby animals turn into giants - even when you are offline!

Once in a while the weather changes and your animals can get mutations…
