Game Discovery Hub

So I been working on a game that makes finding games easier. Here is the game

The sorts are created automatically, there is no manual process. It does that using a database of games that are cycled through (to get rid of all the irrelevant games). Anyone can add a game to the database by entering the placeid into the textbox at the bottom of the screen. (Play before reading, so you don’t already know how it works before using it)

Anyway, what I would like to know is

  • Do you think this would be useful to you?
  • Overall impressions of the “game”, is it user friendly, does it look nice, are the sorts good, is there anything wrong or anything that could get some work? (I also did not test console and vr support)
  • Do you believe this could ever become popular (I don’t want to keep my pc running 24/7 if nobody is playing, I use my pc as a proxy. I’m thinking that I could reach some youtubers who have complained about the algorithm, would that work?)
  • Could this be posted in #resources:community-resources or is that a strech? It’s more like a tool rather than a game, but it could be seen as advertising a game…?

The database currently contains only 203 games, so I have yet to see how things will evolve as more games are added

The icon and thumbnail were made in 2 seconds, I will remake them properly, so I am not looking for feedback on those.

One other thing, the sponsor button currently does nothing because that isn’t implemented yet

I don’t think this game would be useful to me because 99% of the games were already popular / everybody has already played (or at least I have) and there’s only a very small selection of them.

Game game looks fine but the gui is a bit basic, I think it would look better if instead you put a backdrop behand the menu and all of the menu buttons different colours and styles from a colour pallet / designed it to look like a parody of a different game’s menu. Also I have no idea what is going on behind the menu / it doesn’t load fully.

I personally don’t think this game would become super popular as it’s too simple, there are probably a bunch of games like this, a very very small selection of hand picked games to choose from, and nothing really unique about it.

I feel like you should focuse all of your energy with this game into making an AI or algorithm that can find unique games on the roblox website that maybe have 10k-100k visits that people will never have heard of. (instead of it being manually picked)

This game isn’t really a tool.

Seems interesting to me. If anyone can add a game I guess this will become something like an indie game marketplace for a while (before it’s famous and big developers take over)

The games aren’t picked manually. They are added by the players playing the game so anyone can add a game. Eventually, the hub could contain upwards of 100k games. The sorts are also determined from a (albeit very simple) algorithm, with the Hidden gem sort promoting games with under 50 players and a high rating, or Up an coming looking for games with a high player count relative to the visits.

The background is from the hub of my other game BloxBox, which is made out of a selection of meshes (basic block meshes), so that has to load. I’ve never heard of issues with it not loading, sometimes it can take some time for it to load but usually it loads pretty quickly or if you wait long enough it will load just fine
