How do you guys come up with game ideas? I’m a scripter, been scripting for around 4 years, succesfully published 3 games, but now I’m ready to start on a new project and I simply cannot think of a unique game idea, well thats a lie, I’ve thought of a couple but none of them are really captivating me enough to actually start working on them because they’ve already been done before, I’d like to make a game that’s very different, Genre doesn’t really matter a whole lot as I’ve done Magic games, I’ve done RP games, I’ve done Party/Round based games etc. I was hoping yall could share with me how you guys think of ideas, as stated before I’m really not that creative and I need some ways to think of unique game ideas.
It’s really up for you to have your own game idea, however, first let’s start, by asking yourself “What is the one thing I like?” Normally, people who does work, normally would more want to finish the work if
they really loved or want what they’re doing.
To be creative, try using your imagination, which is what Roblox also stands for right? Now, after asking yourself what you really want, then try adding some imagination to it, get creative, normally, if I start writing a story, I normally get creative with the plot, characters, etc. same thing goes here, if you love fictional-related content go for it, if you like action go for it, as I said, if you really love what you’re doing you’re more inspired in doing it, let’s add the inspiration by you developing, and you’re really developing what you really want, e.g. developing your favorite content.
you basicially just said “Be creative” lol that really doesn’t help, as I said I am not very creative or artistic, and I have trouble thinking of those ideas that’s why Im making this post
You literally said, this, my point is mot just to get creative but to also do what you love, for instance, you thought about creating a couple of games with different genres, and you ended up abandoning it, it’s because you lack the inspiration because you don’t really like the game.
As I’ve stated,
Maybe you should start out with creating what you really love or what you really like, as an inspiration.
However, if you see a certain genre is in demand like children playing that type of game, you should first see if you really like that genre and if you really love the content. Remember, doing something without you really liking it, ends up getting abandoned. Similar to the ones that people who hate their job ends up getting nowhere, however, if they do love their job, they always get somewhere. However, for your case, maybe try developing a game that children or the audience want, but, make sure you really want to do it.
In my perspective, most audience play competitive games, and or role-play games maybe start with those. I’d also recommend obbies but with child-friendly themes, normally people love to play obbies, however the only negative part with that is people giving it a negative feedback due to it being “too hard”, so you may want to scale the difficulty on that.
