Game idea - Obby but you're an idiot

So basically, you’re an idiot and forgot to sleep. Every time you start an obby stage, you get a bar that shows “sleepiness”. If this goes to max, you fall asleep in the middle of the stage. Maybe you could buy/find energy drinks to lower the bar. I don’t know if anyone would play this or not though, and it could be very frustrating. Opinions on this idea?

I think that this is actually a great idea, especially with the uprising in the “Obby but…” games. I feel that it would be fairly frustrating but fun to play.

maybe I’d make it so you can do some sort of minigame to stay awake if you fall asleep, such as spam clicking lol

No need to play an obby for that.

no idea why you would post a game idea and ask for opinions with obby when you know you’re going to expect some people who hates repetitive category games here,

but sleepiness can also dictate the wiggle movement of the player if high

So, it’s an obby with a timer. Aka, obby, but less fun. Sure, why not…

that’s really funny, but would be frustrating, still funny though

Personally, I think a better take on the idea is to have it to act like one of those old plate games, where random events happen. However, here the events would only affect one player, making the obby a challenge. Having a bar that can be lowered by buying something is a little too scammy, and I bet most players would think the same thing. An example of an event could be inverted controls or high gravity.

randomly inverting the controls would be funny too (like pressing a makes you go right sometimes)

maybe Obby but the controls are inverted lol; can’t you just set the walkspeed to negative or does that not work?

How is a timer in am obby making the game less fun? Ever heard of risk of rain… No need to hate lmao

because features don’t automatically correlate to having fun.

Surely you would be enjoying taking a math test with a timer over a math test without a timer right?

New game name idea:
Obby but you’re a normal Roblox player

I don’t think I qualify to play a game like this. Maybe if I go to college and graduate with a useless piece of paper (Also known as a degree) with 80 THOUSAND DOLLARS in student loan debt, I’ll qualify.

Wrong category. It should be under #help-and-feedback:game-design-support. Please, THINK before posting.

It was moved.

Honestly, it sounds like a front-page game to me. I like that idea of sleepiness, where you slowly lose control, go for it

Wait a minute, that gets me thinking, what if, the more sleepy the player becomes, the slower their walkspeed becomes? And energy drinks, soda, and/or coffee would well, make you less sleepy and increase your walkspeed again.

Energy drinks could boost your walkspeed higher than normal for a short amount of time, and coffee would slow down the sleepiness timer.

I could blur the screen a little bit too

what does a math test have to do with having fun playing a video game? Also I still disagree as much as you seem to hate math test timers they still make plenty of sense so i’m not even sure what point you’re trying to make right now. There’s literally no cons to adding a timer to an obby??? And this guy just wants to add a gameplay mechanic related to one… sounds pretty fun to me

This post inspired me to make my own “Obby But [Thing]” game. It’s called “Obby But Your Controls Are Swapped”. It’s good speedrun material and it’s very challenging, and best of all, the obby is NOT in a linear, straight line. An acquaintance of mine beat it in roughly 10-14 minutes, so maybe somebody could speedrun it in under 10 minutes.
