Game Idea support

pls dont steal idea

Ok, so I thought of a game where it is like Speed Race and Speed Run 4 combined, If you havent played them it is basically a platformer with max speed.

So I thought to have like modes, Free mode which is basically allowing you to try every map. Adventure mode where you go through a sequence (maybe a story) and Race mode which is literarily Speed Race. The idea feels a bit small, I thought of like custom mode where you can make custom levels but I need more.

I know it sounds like a rip-off but I hope that this can be a individual game.

I really don’t know why you think people will listen to that. If someone wants to steal it they will. As for the game idea I feel like it can get boring pretty easily and if you can find a way to make the game fun then I think it could do pretty good.

I know people wont listen, I put it for fun.

I agree it get boring easy, Maybe maps might help. But like I said there will be modes, I think that might solve the issue.

I feel like I’ve played a game that already had the same concept as “Speed Race”. It was a game where your character is sped up and you had similar obstacles to Speed Run 4, and when you got to the end, the timer would speed up for the rest of the players. I would tell you the name, but I can’t find it and I don’t remember, but it was on the front page for a while.

I think it would be original to do a story of some sort, since every story can be original in its own way, but I personally don’t see how this would greatly stand out from other Speed Run games, even with different gameplay modes.

A few people have been saying that this idea is a ripoff, and i disagree. The core gameplay mechanic in all of these games mentioned is navigating an obstacle at high speeds. Game mechanics can be reused – For example obbies: they’re all basically the same, but people don’t see them as ripoffs of the first one, instead people see them as a genre, which is kinda what i see this whole speed obby idea as, except it’s more of a sub-genre. I actually made a game based upon a lot of these mechanics (plus a few other ones). I actually thought it pretty fun, and i found myself playing level after level whilst testing it. I thinks it’s a testament to the fact that this idea is a good one, and one that if done right could be successful in it’s own right. An important part of making a game like this is good map design, which i only sometimes achieved with this game. You can use this as an example of what you can do with this idea i suppose:

Please keep in mind that this was the first game i made on roblox and the code is awful, and the game breaks after a few rounds. Also when i made this i only knew about Speed Run 4, and i had no idea that Speed Race existed.

When making games i recommend that you make a bare-bones prototype first and if the game is fun, continue working on it, otherwise scrap it.
