Game Idea Support

Hello,

I am in the process of creating my Roblox game, and I need a main idea for the game. From what I see, games get popular from:

  1. Merging characters from popular franchises into the game, example: games having Jujutsu Kaisen related characters in their games, this brings in traction from that specific community.

  2. Having fun, replayable aspects in their game.

  3. Being fun for every type of player, and having skill gaps, grinding, fighting, laid back progression, and more.

I want to pull off an idea like A Universal Time, this game uses stands to add content from other games, while having fighting, grinding, and more. I have been unable to think of any idea for this that is trending, not frowned upon, fun, etc, and that is why I am asking this.

What is athing for the game to be centered around, while having all of these aspects?

Apologies for this, but AUT is quite literally the worst game you could take any amount of inspiration from, it has beyond terrible balancing, terrible grind, terrible everything. As far as I’m aware not even its players enjoy the game. Everyone I’ve talked to who has either played or actively plays AUT is always complaining about it in one way or another.

Also,

DMCA incoming!!

Seriously to avoid legal trouble just don’t do this, yes it gets players but I personally wouldn’t say its worth it

The only fun that comes in majority of the anime battle games is creating a completely busted build and RPKing people, which makes other people just leave, or having a 10-second fight with an absolute sweat.

Majority of the “replayability” that comes in games like AUT is just the fact that every single grind for anything is beyond terrible and too long, boring and/or completely RNG based.

LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER

For every single anime battle game I’ve touched, if its not terrible balancing, its terrible un-rebindable keybinds and confusing movesets, and then confusing unexplained mechanics that exist but aren’t communicated that they exist or how they even work.
Despite being the kind of person to enjoy most game genres, including combat games, every anime battle game is just terrible to me. There is not a single one which executes anything correctly.

The entire formula every roblox anime game uses has just been poisoned and now every anime battle game is just terrible for the same reasons. They take inspiration from a game which did stuff terribly, do it the same and yeah you get the point. It has all the same flaws.

Grinding does not mean good. Like salt (or vegemite) it can be good in small amounts, but games like AUT have beyond too much grind.

As I said before, most games have terrible input systems and super confusing movesets.
If you want good combat, make every character have a shared set amount of moves (so for example, every character has only 4 moves which of course, each of the 4 moves differ per character) which share the same rebindable keybinds.
So move 1 is E, move 2 is F etc.

The “progression” in most games, AUT for example, is just blatantly bad. It’s kinda there but at the same time, not at all. Again, another aspect you should completely revamp and not take inspiration from.

Have you considered making an RPG with your own characters and story or something? That genre is pretty dry right now.

And hey, it has all the aspects you listed but most of the time they’re actually utilized well and not terribly!
And no, I don’t mean “RPG” “games” like Genshin RNG simulator, I mean REAL RPG games which I can’t think of any examples right now, but yeah not the bad RNG “RPG” “games”

I used A Universal Time as a example as it has a grindy aspect to it, similar to what I want. I plan to have the game have many different characters with a diverse economy for the game, making trading and grinding for better characters a key aspect of said game.

I used Jujutsu Kaisen as an example, I most likely won’t use it. I get licensing for any 3rd party characters I use or re-create as well. I will make the game balanced. The difference between rare and not rare will just mainly be cosmetic. Sure, rarer characters might be a bit better, but I see it as a way to push players to get better characters themselves to properly fight back. Nothing will be too unbalanced. I also will do my absolute best to avoid any flaws you mentioned, having in-depth tutorials and scratching the surface for new players. I will have safe zones if you plan to just grind, or if I decide not to, I will add free private servers.

From what I can tell, grinding usually does mean good. Grinding has been a key aspect in many games I’ve played, as it is rewarding for players to grind and get something out of it. (Hence why I’ll add a Pity system too!)

I planned on having 4 moves for every character, as well as rebindable keybinds like you mentioned.

I have looked into the RPG genre, but I really don’t want to make a game like that. I have researched how games get popular, and it’s not for being original. I would really love to make an original game, but on Roblox, I have no power to do so unless I want 100 players active on my game maximum.

Sorry for any bad listed points on my original post or this reply, but all I really want is a suggestion for what to center the game around, just how AUT uses stands. Thanks for the constructive criticism though, I’ll read back on points you made to try to make my game better in the future.
