Hi,
I am looking for advice for my game monetization, i dont how much game with 100-150 players on average make, but i saw some charts from other games with similar players like my game and i think that my game make really small amount of robux + I am spending 15K robux every day to ads. I have no idea what i am doing wrong, i tried everything (Decrease/increase prices, give player only one option to buy in-game currency and then to buy thing, give player multiple choices not only game currency…), but nothing was working. So i am asking what i am doing wrong.
Game description:
You are able to to build a base, then you can start the game, zombies will start appearing on our plot, then you are able to kill them (by weapons, manual turrets, automatic turrets…), then when they will destroy you base, you will get some money to buy chests and from chests you can get things to build.
For better imagination it is something like Build a boat for treasure, but with zombies.
Firstly, you should not be spending 15K a day on advertisements! You need the player to understand the game and if you spend so much a day, people won’t join. They need time to play it and actually like it and if people keep joining and the chart spikes up every day when you buy ads, the real players are going to be overwhelmed especially if you are a small upcoming developer.
Secondly, people might not like your game. You need to ask people on their opinions and don’t take any criticism to heart. Understand their problems and ask for suggestions on what to do better. Some people might not want to speak to you because of nervousness or any other reason, so find a solution! Make a feedback system in game where players can express their opinions freely and you know where you can improve and where your errors and successes are!
Thirdly, update your game. Consistent updates keep the audience in touch and know that they can expect new content continuously. If you are doing this, don’t do major updates like every day or two. It’ll get overwhelming and knowing that most of Roblox’s audience is young, they will not be able and will not want to be comprehending what your game is attempting to portray.
Fourthly, instead of advertising 15k every single day; save that money. Save the money for hiring developers or even if you still want ads, decrease how much you bid into it. A suggestion for free advertising would be to talk to small streamers and/or content creators. Ask them to play your game while recording, and when I say this I don’t mean to attack them, form a friendship and generally ask them if they can play your game. This will give you more visits, more favourites, more support and will increase how much you are earning.
(Sorry for the long reply, but I hope this helps you!)
Another suggestion would be to reward your players. For example, make a streak for how long you play the game and the reward increases every day. Even as little as a thank you for playing or a badge would make the player feel happier and would generally be pleased about the game more. Don’t make everything premium that and premium that because the majority don’t have premium and are young children, wanting to play Roblox for fun. Make it balanced.
Thank for you advice, but i have a problem when i will stop buying ads game will die and i will earn 2K robux per day(I tried that) and after 2 weeks game will be completly died and i tried to ask some small streamers but they wont bring more than 5 people and they wont stream it entire day. I understand your advice, but i dont know if that will help to increase earning. I think that we will have less players and less earning and less feedback from player. So i dont know.
I know that i am only saying that it wont work but believe me i tried that.
I see. I still don’t see the reason why your game isn’t getting popular then. I’ll play your game and such and add me on discord (Inc #9198) for more suggestions.
Thanks for you advice, but i dont think that problem is in that the game dont have much player, but i think that the game have problem with keeping the players and make them to spend robux(Do not get me wrong i dont want to scam the players to earn money).
Personally, I wouldn’t spend any money on ads through Roblox. CTR’s are usually super low and it only ever works for particular game genres. I would recommend hiring a content creator to advertise your game. I used to do this for free on my platform (100K+) to help out smaller developers. It helps you get your name out there and meet other like-minded people without having to spend hundreds of thousands of Robux.
Best of luck to you in the development of your game!
Hmm first thing i would say is people on phone and tablet only appear to be spending only 10 mins in your game while computer and console players spend nearly 30 minutes… Is your game poorly optimized for mobile play?
Do you have any sort of daily rewards that encourage people to log back in more than once?
well if the average tablet user plays for 10 minutes whereas the average pc user plays for 30… theres got to be some sort of reason for that…
Also how long does it take to say unlock the top level turret?
if i had to interpret your data i would guess, that it takes about 30 minutes to unlock most content for the game, or at 30 minutes it becomes less rewarding or boring or laggy.
I would guess something similar happens at 10 minutes for phones, maybe after 10 minutes there are too many zombies for the average phone to cope with so it gets laggy and people quit.
Can we have a link to the game to investigate further?
Yeah, I figured out that the problem is in the Ads, because now we have like 8K visits and 25K robux (17K with tax) per day, but ads cost us 15K everyday (so we don’t earn much at all), so the monetization is very good, but ads should work better.
Sorry to bump this, but yea to fix that you should just force them to come back by adding daily rewards with a VERY attractive end result after a week. Many many people underestimate this, but it really does work especially towards your whales players / grinder type players.
