I do an awful lot of work for organisation. If you aren’t a person that likes having everything organised, then I understand your comment behind this, but seeing those empty places in my develop page constantly annoys me a bit. It annoys me that there’s nothing I can do with them.
Having an option would be great, which is what I suggested.
As I said earlier,
@CaptainJadeFlames
Part of section 3A of the Roblox Terms of Use state that
You may never allow anyone else to use your Account (except your parents or legal guardian). If you have reason to believe that your Account is no longer secure, then you must immediately notify us at info@roblox.com.
It’s important to constantly keep yourself secure, if someone lays dormant, you can do regular security updates such as password changes and/or forcing all accounts to relogin. If you feel that you account is not secure, then you MUST tell Roblox as shown above.
@FamedChris
While true, it’s okay under the Terms of Use.
Roblox is not refundable under section 4.A.4 Final Payment.
Also, under a section of the Terms of Use section 6.B.2 Groups
The owner of the group has all the rights shown under section 6
As between Roblox and you, the owner of the Group will be deemed to have all rights (including copyrights and rights to Robux spent on the Group’s Dev Game Item Services or the Group’s Dev Avatar Item Services) and responsibility for any UGC Provided by the Group through the Services (including the responsibility of getting appropriate rights from other Group members). As such any reference to “you” in this Section 6 shall, in the case of a Group, only mean the Owner.
Simular to @Younite I want to organise my UGC across Roblox and in some case remove content which I no longer wish to be on the platform.
Edit: I am not a lawyer. go seek professional advice.
Then why not an option which doesn’t bring risk? What benefit is there to an option with so much harm, compared to other potential options? Let’s say we just go with a permanent on/off shadowing, without the risk of any deletion.
We’ve already got the benefit of going back to places we shadowed if we need them, nobody can harm our places any more compared to before, and we still get the perks that deleting it would bring, that being that we can act as if it’s deleted until it’s needed.
Think of it the same as your inbox on Roblox. Years ago, you could delete messages, but that changed into an archive box. The only difference is that instead of your messages going into the void, they are saved. You can still put all your “delete” messages in your archive, and act as if that’s the same. If you ever need to check something again, they’re still there.
And as I’ve said, they can still find ways in. In many cases, people are only finding out their account isn’t secure because it’s too late, and damage has already been done. Why give malicious users more tools to cause damage when we can opt for solutions which work better, and don’t do that?
As I’ve said up at the top, what benefit is there to permanently deleting the items compared to the option of shadowing them? Can you provide a good reason for opening up such risks when there are better options?
Then do regular security updates such as password changes and/or forcing all accounts to relogin. If you feel that you account is not secure, then you MUST tell Roblox as shown above.
I regularly preform specific security updates to keep myself secure.
In the end, I prefer just the shadow feature but some developers may want to delete for various reasons.
I can do password changes, forced log outs, and much more, but no matter how many layers, someone could still get in without me knowing until they’ve done damage. It’s best to prevent the potential for them to do more damage, instead of taking care of it there and then.
As I’ve said, I’ll be giving as much support as I can if it’s just the shadow feature. That idea is great, and I feel we could go with just that and achieve what this post is asking for, without opening up new places for trouble.
In an example of use - never have I said “I’m so glad I archived that message.”
Yeah, a silly example, but I was mainly going for the “Not much of a noticeable change, and yet there’s less to lose” aspect. It’s not too big on messages, but with us applying that idea to bigger things like places, that “less to lose with little visible difference” aspect is something to consider.
I don’t think deleting games should be a thing only for the reason that many of us, including me, are irresponsible and leave things in our games that we can’t access anywhere else. If we delete the game, all that is gone. Maybe just have the place inactive… or add a tab on the develop page for games you don’t need. Not only this, but with group games, if a rogue group member decides to delete every game in the group while everyone is gone for a while, and nobody notices that the game became a shadow, the group would be done for and people would leave.
In terms of rouge members/irresponsible users, see the 30 day grace period.
Other users have suggested folders, hide the assets, etc.
I disable all the place assets that I no longer need actively on, some I leave as inactive and some assets I just no longer need and no longer. For example if I looked at my decals
All the assets with a cross through them are stuff I no longer need and I would want to remove perm or archive it.
Alright so can we all at least agree on a feature request to better organize our place slots, be that into folders or just move them around the Studio window, and review the ability to delete them or not later on?
Because I think we’re all agreeing to versions of the same request, so we should unify behind the common denominator.
For those arriving late, I’ll TL:DR what I want
- The ability to easiy organise all of my UGC, folders, etc.
- The ability to hide any of my UGC which I no longer want public
- (The controversial one) The ability to delete UGC that I no longer want (see above for the specifics)
I don’t see a reason to design roundabout safeguards to protect against accidental/malicious deletion. Just pursue archiving instead of deletion. Archived assets are effectively the same as deleted to other users (can’t be seen, joined, etc), but a developer can view and restore all of their archived assets whenever.
What about all those empty slots?
If we cant achieve the ability to delete our unwanted assets we should have the ability to change the order (drag and drop).
I have way too many places than I’d like to keep lol.
Empty slots?
Old games usually have multiple different games that’s been overriding eachother.
Maybe one day you want to find your old ‘Woodchopper’ game but it was overwritten by your newer ‘Kids co.’ game. You decide to delete kids co. and as a result you’ll never find your woodchopper game again.
I think, atleast for a start, let us hide games from showing up anywhere but in a special “hidden games” section.
That would clear up alot of the mess.
Why stop at games? This could be applied to shirts, pants, models, etc. I have several old shirts/pants that embarrass me that are still somewhere out there in the catalog.
If you publish a place to roblox, that cannot be deleted. Even if you transfer everything from that file over to another file, you cannot delete it. That’s why I’m wanting a feature to help with organisation.
Archiving an asset removes it from the normal list – see your PMs for similar behavior. The only way to view the archived assets is to visit the archive.
I’d much rather a way to categorize them.
We all want to organize our places, and while adding a deletion feature could be helpful, I feel as if it won’t really solve the issue, and would cause even more issues with people deleting their games for whatever reason and then wanting them back.
I do like the idea of shadowing games though, where the game cannot be found, but not deleted.
Even with shadowing/deletion, you are only solving part of the issue. We all have those really old places that are just embarrassing and inactive, and we’d rather just delete them. I understand that, and that those places could clog up space. But deletion is only useful when you have absolutely no need for the place. What if you have places you would like to keep, but they are just clogging up your space?
I’ve also seen sorting features suggested, which would make it easier to find the more important places, but I still think it is messy.
That’s why we need a way to categorize the places.
When you open the develop page for places, there could be a drop down menu like the one asking for the creator, but with category names. These categories are made by the developer, and a place can be added to any and all categories.
Of course, when you click on that category, only the places in that category show up. This gives us developers lots of ways to organize our places, and thin out the unwanted.
