We’re interested in hearing from you about your experience following the Gameplay Scripting Curriculum. If you have any questions, concerns, or additional feedback on the process, please feel free to leave a comment below and someone from the team will respond to you shortly.
I saw both the curriculum and the announcement (at #updates:announcements), and it looks pretty good!
However, whenever I go to the Creator Documentation, it is now a common thing to see that the page switches to another language based on the device location (which was explained by @YuckyBucket a while ago) and, with that being said, the PT-BR version does not have any translations… It remains only in English.
Hey Juan! Thanks for reaching out. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this issue, and I want to assure you that our engineers are both aware and actively working on it. The new tutorial hasn’t been translated yet, but when I know more, I’ll be sure to update you.
If you have any further general doc questions, please feel free to make a post under Documentation Features
Sorry for necroposting, but how are learners supposed to use this curriculum? I’ve been trying to learn from this, but I was confused about where to start from. As far as I know, it doesn’t provide you a start place, and also seems to assume you already have some premade ModuleScripts in ReplicatedStorage. There is a provided place file, but that seems to be an already fully functioning version.
Upon a second read, I guess I figured that it’s more of a breakdown of the game rather than a tutorial? I feel like it’s kinda misleading to put it under tutorials and call it anything other than a “breakdown”, especially considering there’s a ton of scripts that aren’t explained in the curriculum. I feel it would be discouraging for a beginner/intermediate if they tried to follow it as a tutorial. Just my opinion
Hey @DrMissile , thank you for reaching out! The Gameplay Scripting curriculum is meant to be used as a reference for how our game designers planned out several gameplay mechanics. Unlike other curriculums that you can directly recreate, this one has a fully functioning version where you can review the logic and and see how different scripts work together; the curriculum itself further breaks down these mechanics and techniques in a much longer form than code comments. Of all of our advanced curriculums, I would say this one is the most advanced.
