This is just a minor bug - more like human error; though I thought this was the best place to put it.
This gear was uploaded as a back accessory, allowing users who equip it to bring the gear into games which it should not normally be allowed in (and I’ve been told you can also damage other players with this, which could be quite game-breaking):
This is far from what I would call “just a minor bug.”
Without trying it (I don’t own the gear), here are some front page games I can imagine this gear can ruin for other players in the server:
Jailbreak
Pet Simulator
MeepCity
Welcome to Bloxburg
Destruction Simulator
Mining Simulator
Royale High
Lumber Tycoon 2
Robloxian Highschool
Fashion Famous
Assassin!
Murder Mystery 2
Work at a Pizza Place
and several others…
This mistake has the power to completely ruin several front page games (granted it won’t be effecting all servers at all times). However, this is deadly in the case of a ruined experience for new players of these games. They may never come back due to a bad experience which isn’t even the fault of the developer(s).
Now sadly this doesn’t follow the critical guidelines, so I wouldn’t suggest marking it as critical. Though this definitely deserves attention, and I can only think to point @EchoReaper and @buildthomas to this thread in hopes that one of them can get this resolved more quickly. It’s highly unfair for any game developer whose game is effected negatively by this mistake.
I don’t own it either so can’t try it out myself; there was a guy walking around trade hangout dropping them for people. It seems like all this requires to be fixed is to switch the item category from back accessory to gear.
Yeah, I can imagine it’s an easy fix for a deadly bug. I don’t personally know the process involved in switching the categories of assets, though I believe it isn’t too difficult since a lot of hats had to be turned into accessories. Hoping this is fixed tomorrow morning at the latest.
Oh gosh, this reminds me of that one paper sword “hat” that you can equip in games with hat code givers, and it is basically just the paper sword gear except it is broken and doesn’t do anything. Hope this gets fixed soon!
It looks like this has already been caught by the team working on gear – the damage script is disabled in the item (you can verify by inserting it through InsertService)
Unsure what the plans are for a permanent fix (converting to gear), but it should no longer be a major issue for the time being.
This was caught pretty early on within a day or so, as it would do damage in game.
It’s still an issue as it’s labeled under back accessory, which gives you a cosmetic crowbar in game now.
Best solution to this would be to enable the gears script again, and list it properly under gears.
