This looks sweet. It’s nice but I could imagine if you have a lot of those it could make the game run slower on some devices. Other than that it is really good. I bet it would run pretty well on most newer devices.
Looks pretty high poly huh? Well its just cubes with normal maps. Im in the process of making some new textures to go along side these others that I got from elsewhere.
Which saves me on walls which are hard to make properly low poly with this theme.
I got a lot of ground features in the pipe line that will take advantage of this. Ive also moved more towards using painted foliage rather than pure mesh plants.
Plants scale also takes factor. The smaller trees are only a few thousands tris. Its the biggest that get up to 10k. But they are also big, They take up a lot of space so there wouldnt be many. In combination of breaking the map into many sub places to keep asset counts low I dont think this should be the greatest concern.
Ive also done projects with many MANY more/higher detail models and it performed fine on a couple of different devices of various performances.
Type of tree is intended to grow to great heights… Literally. There is major gaps between heights in the generations however that can be covered by light scaling of similar height trees
I got a massive library of photoscanned rocks I can convert to this theme. Chances are when I get around to making a lot of rock variants ill probably make what you like. Plus I already made some but they are not the most impressive. Just generic blob rocks. But you drop a image of the vague shape of a rock you want ill go ahead and throw together a handful like it. Takes seconds to make a bunch of rocks
I think the artifact comes from compression because I can tell what your talking about and its not visable in the raw screenshot or workplace.
But the stripes are there in studio and its the gradient texture I have on them. These didnt turn out the best because theres only a dozen or so layers that the UV occupies. Ive got those non gradient copies just beside it for that reason
