Me and my friend, Oculus_Sight are making a Tower Defense game concept together as a way to practice our modeling and scripting skills as a whole. We might not make it an entire game but we’re gonna try to step into a new territory that we haven’t explored yet, as a way to get more knowledge.
I want to know what your thoughts are on this piece that we made for our Thumbnail just so we don’t forget to do it later. I meshed a rock for the tiny tower defense area, and used PBR materials to make the rock and grass stand out more. What else do you think I should have done to perfect this, or do you think it looks good as is?
Wow! Love your GFX, the reflection is the coolest thing, this looks like in full graphic just like reality. Amazing job, on this effort. This is the best one!
Awesome!! The render is perfect. I know you said you did not put any photoshop effects but you should add some color correction and other stuff In photoshop to make it look even better!!
Hey thanks! If you’re wondering what I used to do this exactly, I’m primarily an Eevee engine artist, not really much of cycles since it’s just way too realistic for anything that I do.
I put a 400 sample count for the render, and use PBR materials which are free and can be found here
Not a terrible idea! Personally I feel like the current lighting is bright and colorful enough for me but I do agree that a bit of color correction could set a better mood, and maybe bring out more depth around the edges of things. Thanks for this!
Some parts like the edges where the corners are beveled off are a bit low quality in the textures, and the textures themselves seem like they can be used better, but besides that the textures and the table of some sort isn’t too bad.
I feel like you should probably avoid arms going through objects, it does make some parts of the render look poorly made.
Try making the table look more like a table instead of a parking bollard. You should also try to have the background look more “compatible” with the rest of the characters and models.
But, add some after effects and you probably will have a good looking thumbnail.
This wasn’t going to be for any actual game so I didn’t care for this to look overly perfect, however I did ask for feedback here so I’m grateful for your contribution.
Roblox 1.0 package doesn’t have any hands so unfortunately it’s difficult making it look like they’re placing their hand on a surface. The only way to replicate this, is by simply letting it merge into the hand.
It’s actually a rock. One of those rocks that look like pillars, only they’re not. However I do agree that I should have turned up some settings with the bevel modifier, but then I would go above the triangle count so I was forced to keep it simple. Textures sadly looked not so good because of this. it was really the only big turn off for me.
I was going for a look where the Roblox characters were in an environment outside. I put a plane on the base to replicate a grass look just in case you could see down. I would say I did this pretty well for what I was looking for and I’m quite happy with it. However I suppose I could change and tinker with the roughness of the texture to make it match more with the backdrop but it was fully intentional for it too look this way. Nonetheless, thank you for all of this
