[GFX] My very first Roblox GFX

Hello! My name is CrazyPista but I go by the name “Scar” I was really inspired by these amazing GFX creators on this platform and I decided that I will start doing my own work. I’m a newbie in Blender so I expect constructive criticism and will do anything to improve my renders and also my work.

Here is my first creation ever:

Oh wow, that’s very impressive from a beginner for GFX especially with the photo editing you did (perhaps you learnt that first before you did GFX?). One note though is that you can add some extra lights before rendering the character, so that it can fit more with the background. How I do this is by looking at the background I’ve chosen for when I start photo editing and then try to replicate the locations of each light source, along with adding objects with the Shadow Catcher effect on so that it can look accurate. If it doesn’t look that good, then I’ll mess with the angles, power, and size of one light source in the scene.

pretty nice, there is a hole in the leg or something,i dont get the green thing, the horn looks weird on the guy and then there is a orange hoel where his i should be, the character is badly lit, but the posing is very nice. there is also a weird floating knife around him and the image is very disproportionate lighting wise and size wise

This is my first time doing roblox gfx stuff, but I had some work done before. (Anime Editing on Instagram) cover designs, album covers banners and more… So yeah… The character didnt have any light or nothing since I dont know how to do that yet, but yeah Im learning this stuff and I will try to get better and better since Im pretty competetive with this stuff. Thanks for the criticism tho!

Can’t wait for what you’ll be like in the future. Perhaps, you might be able to open up comms once you get familiar with the Blender interface and the features that can spice things up.

Color me impressed! Clicked into this expecting some bad gfx and I see this! Nice fog effect near the feet, good auras, lighting needs help like you said, posing of the right arm is odd still, it looks pretty good!

The size is just right. If you will look closely at the pillars they are going higher than on the picture itself. If you will look at my character’s equipped parts I have on floating daggers, necromancers ring underneath me. I personally wanted the daggers to look like they are in movement so this is why I’ve added there that effect of “flying”. The Orange hole is a mask and I kept it lit so it has a nice touch. You’ve got a point in lightning since it comes from the top, but also the back.

Thank you so so much!! I agree the lights are little off I was kinda in hurry… I also need to focus more on the more “dramatical poses” since I rarely see them here. I’m very new to the Blender thing but I learn quick and I can adapt if needed. Thanks for the criticism I really appreciate it!

that knife looks very much stationary, however

Well I havent included the motion blur on the daggers sadly  I will surely add one next time. Thanks tho.

It’s pretty decent for the most part, but the character doesn’t look like he belongs in that setting.

The composition of the image needs a lot of work, you can tell he wasn’t rendered with that backdrop. The fog near the bottom I feel is an excuse to make up for the fact that it would look odd without it. I would use some adjustment layers to fix most of these issues, then the GFX would look a lot better.

I think the one thing I like most about the GFX itself is the particle effects around the katana. Which leads me onto my next point.

If something is glowing, light bounces will occur, but those aren’t present, so it makes this effect where you made the mesh neon looking and didn’t bother to give it some light casts on to different meshes around the lit up one. Same goes for the katana, it should reflect a green light on his side, but it doesn’t do it.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s above average for a beginners GFX but still feels very weird, that’s just me.

Keep up the good work

Hi! Thanks for the response and an actual criticism. When I was doing this picture I was kinda in a rush so yeah everything is how it is.

I agree I could’ve done better work with the green light as you mentioned above.
Also, I’m not on that level where I could render a background myself wich I’m planning to learn.

I will try my best to become at least somewhat good as these guys in here.

Once again, thank you for the response. :happy2:

I recommend utilizing PBR (Physical Based Rendering) textures to get the best out of realism. They pop, and look 3D, and they obey your renders lighting configuration. It looks even better with Cycles, so if you use Cycles as a primary render engine, you can get some impressive results.

Here’s the website I use sometimes: https://ambientcg.com/

It’s a good starting point, but won’t have everything.

Thank you so so much :happy1: I’m willing to put hours into this just so I could get some better results. I do use Cycles as my primary render and I will try it out :happy3:

Oh yeah one more thing, you can enable the Node Wrangler plugin which allows you to easily apply PBR materials to any part without much hassle. A video learning how is located here: Easy PBR Material Setup in Blender - YouTube

Thanks once again :happy1: I will put that to good use.

It looks great! The lighting, the colors, the avatar. To be honest, I really wanted to look at this more! It is appealing to the eye and is not token out of context ever. Overall, 10/10
