Give us the ability to un-flag posts we have flagged

I’m not sure how possible this is with Discourse, but I recently just flagged a post as off-topic (I misread the category it was in). I quickly realized my mistake but had no way of un-doing it. As a result, the post is now improperly flagged.

I’d like a feature that lets us undo a post flag, or maybe even have an “oops nevermind” button. I don’t make these mistakes often, but they do happen every once in a while and it’d be nice to have a feature like this.

Aren’t flags turned into messages? Isn’t it possible to just send another reply to the message and explain that it was a misflag?

But I still support this feature, if it’s possible, counting it’ll just be easier. But wouldn’t they have to archive the messages? Not sure how Discourse works.

Edit: I guess the bot could reply with “This user left this conversation” or “This user removed their flag” and the staff could manually archive it.

Yeah, they should make an undo button because we sometimes do an oppsie.

They are not turned into messages you can reply to, no. Roblox staff may reach out to you via DM for further inquiry / follow up, but you initially cannot do anything.

I don’t see a good reason to implement this.

Flagging a post requires 4 individual clicks, so it’s pretty hard accidentally flag something. If you misinterpreted the message or the context, its not going to hurt the post. Flags just tell staff to check out the post and make sure its not violating rules, if it doesn’t no action will be taken and the moderator will move on.

The number of flagged posts isn’t what’s in question here - it’s the one post that you did flag that should be able to be un-flagged.

Yes, and if we have the ability to un-flag a post, it can reduce the workload of the staff checking them.

It depends, if your normally flagging a post like, spam, inappropriate etc, I don’t think there’s a message. Only if you flag it with moderators attention and wrote something in the box, then yes it turned into a message.

Ohh, I see. I’ve only flagged messages where I had added a message to it, so that might be it.

I Support this, especially given someone can make a bad post then use the feedback and edit it into a more suitable one.

I support this idea. Honestly, I’m guilty of doing that for a few times…:point_right::point_left:

@aelzc This only is the case with ‘Something else’ flags.

To answer the OP’s feature request, as this is a Discourse thing, you’ll need to suggest it in Discourse meta since it’s not directly controlled by the DevForum.

If you do post it in meta, please link here as many (myself included) would like to support it!

Should be posted on the Discourse meta – Discourse used to have this feature AFAIK, but then removed it. I’m not sure why.

Weirdly enough I can’t find any existing topic on the meta about undoing flags.

You’ll want to find/create a dedicated topic about undoing flags. It’s not likely to be considered in its current form. Same reason why we don’t do “multi-feature” request posts on this forum.

Closing this out since this feature should be requested with Discourse, not Roblox.
