Glass at Transparency=1 still applies its transparency mask

The ring is glass at Transparency 1. It still applies its mask and blocks the AO.

Edit: This only happens with unions and meshes

I thought parts at full transparency stopped rendering entirely…

I just re-created your glass ring to test this. In your image it appears that the glass ring isn’t fully transparent, I’ve set the transparency to 1 and it was completely gone.

I decided to play around with it to figure out what you are trying to explain.

It turns out that while the glass is set to transparency 1, the textures behind it still don’t render like if it was at 0.7

I hope this is what you were trying to get at, otherwise please explain.

Sharksie means that the AO is blocked by the glass when it shouldn’t be. Ambient occlusion (AO) is the shadow you see on parts in corners like here:

When you put a union made of glass infront of it at transparency=1, the AO is blocked:

@Sharksie you might want to add that this applies to unions (and meshes?), not to regular parts. Regular glass parts at Transparency=1 do not influence AO.

Yup. This is a bug. Thanks for reporting. The fix will go out next year.

This could make a cool puzzle / breakout concept.

@Homeomorph Any idea when the fix for this goes out/live?

The fix should be enabled on desktop at the end of January, and on xbox/mobile shortly thereafter.
