Goofy Defense: A sillier take on the genre

Hey! This is my first post on the Dev Forum after spending so long looking through posts to get Member. I’m currently working on a tower defense game called Goofy Defense.

What is it?
My goal for this game is to be a sillier and more light-hearted take on the Tower Defense genre, while still being a unique and fun game. I want every tower to have it’s own unique mechanic, and it’s own use, no matter how niche.

The game is still in it’s early stages. There’s a lot more that has to be done before I can release it. But I want to hear some opinions and suggestions you might have!

Current Features
30 waves, currently with a place holder boss.
5 towers, each with a unique mechanic

  • Soldier, a rifle-wielding tower that shoots fast with low damage. At max level, it can crit to deal percentage damage.
  • Scout, a pistol-wielding tower with extremely high range. At max level, it deals over 2x damage and reveals hidden enemies with every third shot.
  • Rebel, a shotgun-wielding tower with low range but high damage. At max level, it builds up “Fury” while hitting enemies, increasing its damage.
  • Bruiser, a high DPS tower holding a laser minigun. It has a heat stat that decreases every time it fires, and at 0, it has to cooldown.
  • Businessman, a unique take on the “Farm” tower that, rather than giving you money every wave, increases the money you get from kills.

A unique, ULTRAKILL-Inspired ranking system that rewards you for better performance. You are ranked based on how many kills you got, the wave you reached, and your leftover cash at the end of a round. Ranks range from D to S. Then those ranks are taken, and used to calculate an overall rank. Win with an S in all categories for an S rank, and do it without losing health for a P rank! Round rewards increase with your overall rank.

Some planned features
Enemy attacks, tower health and death, and a Medic tower to go with it.
Skins
Game Modifiers that increase / decrease rewards
An event shop that sells event Skins and Modifiers
3-4 difficulties with unique enemies
An actual final boss (right now it’s just a placeholder named john)

Donations
I have a few donation gamepasses from 30-350 robux, if you’re interested. All robux from donations will go straight back into development to buy plugins, hire help, and get advertisement.

I’ve set out to make a game that I enjoy, and when it releases, I hope others enjoy it too! I’ve attached some pictures of the game. Tell me what you think.

I really do like the ranking system that is based on performance as it does encourages players to perform better. Looking good so far, shoutout to john.

What a neat sounding game, definitely interested in playing when it releases! I really like how it’s based on skill rather than just spending a number of hours on the game. I also like the idea of every tower being unique and there being a big boss at the end (Hi, John!)

I do have a couple of questions though.

  1. This might just be me being dumb lol, but, what does the “P” in P rank stand for?
  2. I misunderstood the ranking system a bit, do you get ranked after every wave or after the entire round(when you die or defeat the boss)?
  3. Sort of adding onto that, do you keep your rank forever or is it something that goes away at the end of the round?

  2. Your rank is given at the end of the entire round, when you die or defeat john.
  3. Ranks are on a per-match basis. In the future, I might make it so you can see your best rank for each map!
