Ok, I see a few problems with groups now as far as searching for them and what they’re about.
Currently the page here: Groups - Roblox shows groups relevant to the category, however It shows them based on the name, and random member count.
What groups need is a genre option for the group owner to chose. Since they’re groups, they should be different from games genre’s. Then on that page, sort them by each genre, and change the search to allow searching by a genre.
A list of genre’s I thought would be relevant to what Roblox has for groups.
Fan group
Military / War group
Roleplay
Studio
Helpers (Unsure what to name it, but something like Scripting helpers as an example.)
Community (Basically like a gaming community type of thing)
Organization (Like Stop Bullying! type of groups)
Other (For any categorized without one of the above)
I’d be happy with just the current tags being changed to genres and groups having to pick from one. It’s unfair that my group - the largest development group on ROBLOX - doesn’t get listed because there’s five or six war clans ahead of mine claiming that they are development groups.
At the moment it’s hard to find specific groups you want. Of course, you could always search it, but usually the results aren’t as you please. Example:
I simply wanted to look for any Scifi group, perhaps I didn’t have one in mind.
Usually, the groups won’t be named “Scifi”, meaning it will be harder for me to find one.
That’s why I believe being able to search groups by genre would make it easier for players like me to find groups. Owners of groups should be allowed to set a genre based on the group, then players could find their group much easier.
If you are not a group there will be 4 listed Genres; Building, Military, Roleplaying, and Fan groups. (May differ for users)
Expanding upon this will make it much more efficient for users like me, who are constantly looking for different groups.
It’s something I’ve had at the back of my mind for a while and I would believe it would make group navigation way easier for all players.
