This is a long overdue feature, one thing I’m a bit concerned about though, say you have a big group then you change the name, after this 90 days are other people able to use that name? If so something i thought of is people trying to impersonate bigger groups and using it in bad ways.
Like say they took the name and the logo etc.

I was made owner of a server and I own all the groups. One of our groups needs a name change. I was made group owner about 2 months ago yet despite the update coming out today, I am unable to change the name because it is “under 90 days.”
I wouldn’t normally care but I worried that our group change will be namesniped and we’ll have to do some weird workaround name. Am I just a bad case of unfortunate timing or is this an overlooked exception regarding the ownership detection code?
Finally, I can change my group name to something a lot better.

As stated in the OP you have to wait 90 days after gaining ownership of the group to name change.
I just said that, however one would assume that a NEW FEATURE that has a restriction would apply the restriction after the release, not to changes prior. It sucks to whoever wants to rename their group but just gained ownership of it yesterday as they now must wait 89 days, or if the code rounds up, must wait 90. 3 months is a long time to wait.
YES! Been waiting for this for 3 years now, it’s been sitting there in the Roblox roadmap since August of 2020 I believe. I now can rename a group I made when I was 7!
Though, in my opinion. Why wasn’t this on the platform sooner? Like I am sure it was thought of sooner than 2020.

Loving the attention groups are getting finally, good work.
Though I would suggest changing the Recycle period of names from 90 days to maybe 180 days. That way if you change the name of your group, but later regret it you have a grace period to change it back before it is thrown back into the system.
I agree, because at that price, I could just do what I did before, which is just make a new group from scratch.
Problem is, I am the only member of the group I want to rename.
You can still rename your group even if you are the only member.
Maybe add a option to disable the messages? Or you could add a “prioritize” messages like these. Like, some people have a lot of messages and don’t have time or won’t even know it happened. Maybe there’s like a 2nd Text Bubble that’s purple or some color, with the number of those messages. That can grab the attention of people with flooded inboxes. The inbox message should also be the same background color to be able to find it.

There is a typo in my group name. You can now change group names with typos. I’ve been waiting for you all this time!
