The time has come. We have officially released Group Name Change to all users!
If youโre looking to change your groupโs name, navigate to the Configure Group page and click the Edit button next to your group name
You will see the following modal appear with some details around group name changes. Things to keep in mind:
Changing a groupโs name costs 100 Robux
You can change a groupโs name every 90 days
Each member of your group will receive a message informing them about the name change
Your groupโs previous name will be recycled and available for use after 90 days
Searching will not support searching by previous names
When group ownership changes, its name cannot be changed for 90 days
After you change your groupโs name, you will see the new name reflected across the website shortly (it may take a few minutes due to caching). Previous group names can still be viewed by hovering over the Previous Group Name text on the group details page, as well as on group search cards.
Appreciate the update a lot. Would it be possible for the names of closed groups (0 members, manual approval) to also be recycled for future use or would that raise a number of alarms (e.g. impersonation, name collisions, whatever)?
Too bad I remade or closed all the groups Iโve wanted to change names forโฆ
Iโm extremely happy that this is officially a feature, no longer the days of having to make a new group and transfer everything with the utmost thanks to you and the team!

Can previous group names from one group be reused by another group? Quickly tested this and Iโm met with an unknown error - Iโm assuming this wasnโt intended.
As a user who wanted to change their group name for over a year I consider this an incredible update. Group owners no longer have to worry for cringe group names they wanted to erase but where unable to due to their communities. Thanks for listening us out on this
This is long overdue and Iโm glad to see that at long last, it has arrived. I was expecting this - just a few weeks ago, I noticed the presence of it at QQ้ณไน - Roblox which got me hyped, even though I donโt own any groups.
Iโm really excited for group renaming! I have certainly experienced the struggle of being unable to change the name of a group in the past.
I have two main problems that I would love to see addressed.
After a group is renamed, the previous name of a group is recycled after 90 days.
Would it be possible for this same recycling system to apply to deleted and/or abandoned groups with unobtainable names?
Another thing - if one person owns two groups, would it be possible for them to swap the names of the two groups without having to wait for both to complete?
Right now if I own two groups and want to swap the names, I need to rename group A to something random, wait 90 days, rename group B what group Aโs name was, wait 90 days, and then rename group A to what group Bโs name was. Thatโs a total of 270 days spent, just to swap two group names!
Could I ask the reason for the 90 day period? It seems a little strong for something users can do to their accounts every week Overall, I support this update and Iโm glad to see more work being done for group configuration
With the new update out, it gives even more of a reason to have these groups not count as part of the โname-takenโ system. It limits developers such as myself from properly branding ourselves and our groups.
