I think this is just an oversight Roblox forgot to account for. Instead of letting groups automatically transfer to the highest ranking member or locking groups when the owner is terminated, it just sits there with a terminated owner, soft removing it indefinitely and screwing up perms so that it can’t properly be maintained.
While I don’t think groups should automatically lock if the group owner is terminated since that hurts more than just the owner (unless the group is the REASON for termination), leaving the group basically ownerless is a huge detriment that should not occur. This prevents it from functioning in several ways, including:
- PAYOUTS
- Creating Games, Models, Assets, or Avatar Items for the Group
- Kicking/Banning
- Role Assignment/Allowing Entry into the group (if its private)
I firmly believe that if a group owner is terminated and is absent for 30 days (the time available to appeal), the ownership of the groups the held should go to their highest ranking admin. If there’s more than 1 person within that role, it should go to who has had the most activity in the group based on audit logs.
