Guest Simulator Devlog

QUICK NOTE

( THIS POST WAS PREVIOUSLY KNOW AS “DOES MY ROBLOX GAME HAVE POTENTIAL?” )

About The Game

So This is a game I’ve started working on less than a week ago. It’s nothing big or anything just a social hangout where you are able to play as a guest so you won’t be able to chat or save your data of course, but you also have the option to sign up in game so you can play as your character and chat.

Right now you can’t sign up but once you hit play you have a side selection of guests you can play as and once you pick one you spawn on the map with a randomly generated user id and thats it for now besides exploring the map.

Plans I Have For The Game

  • Absolutely No Monetization ( Except For Donations )
  • Currency ( Can’t buy it with robux )
  • Shop to buy gears & nametags
  • Entirely New Map
  • Quick Chat
  • Being Able To Create Up To 3 Accounts In Game
  • A lot more stuff but I am not gonna add here to not make the list too long

Creator Notes

If you do decide to play the game and curious to why a button won’t work it is because it has either been disabled because it contradicts with a feature at the moment or it has not been coded in yet.

If you have any criticism or suggestions please let me know

I don’t understand what I’m supposed to be doing in the game

And if a game with a plain empty white box can have over 500+ active players, i’m sure your game also has potential

Roblox will not recommend your game if you do not have monetization in place :slightly_frowning_face:.

But as @finaIlyhappy said, your game has potential.

I might consider adding monetization I just don’t wanna be someone who adds as much monetization as possible on every single thing for the sole purpose of only making money but I could possibly make a exception for currency.

That is understandable which is why I am working on things on what guests and players can do in game and see if I can make it more than just a social hangout. and when Quick chat gets in place only guests will be able to use that to chat but at the moment the game is understandably boring at the moment

I’ve thought about it long and hard and I decided I am gonna have to get rid of this map I made and make this big new one because of what I have planned for both guests and players, I want the game to be more than a “silent hangout” just walking around the map finding secrets. At the moment I am working on Guest Specific features along with the revamped Account Creation System. I am gonna turn this forum into a devlog and post progress of the game and see where it goes from there.

Also while I’m here I did update the game with new UI Functionality and Sound Effects in the UI

And about the account creation system so I want to be as Innovative as possible and this is something i’ve done before in a test project so I want to do a thing where Players can create their own accounts in game and have a limit of 3 accounts they can create. They just enter a custom user they want for that account ( which will be filtered of course ) and they can customize their avatar and have their data saved. and if a player was to like have 3 different accounts in the game they will have 3 different sets of data so like this account has this much money the other has this much yall get what I am saying. But right now I am just focused on the guest features.

Just want to start out; love the look and style of the game. The music selection is good and the vibe everything has is great! Love the addition of some characters you would most often see back in 2012-2015. Instant throwback!

Game however is lacking well, being a game. Not in the current version, or in your plans, do you really explain what you are doing or going to be doing as a player. Nothing is interactive, there’s no goal and you are just walking around. I also don’t know why, but the chat is disabled which gets rid of the only charm the game might’ve had at this stage; chatting about what it might be!

I would recommend first working out what your plans are with the game, the game play loop, the progression (if any) or just a genre in general. Right now you walk around an the things you seem to be thinking about aren’t actually gameplay features or gameplay loops but more just visual customization in a void of nothingness.

Can see a game that looks like this do numbers on ROBLOX since everyone is leaning more towards the older style of games now adays. But before it can do that it needs direction!

Hope this helps out and I meant it all in the most possible sense I could. Good luck developing!

Well the direction I wanna go is in terms of playing as a player is starting out with the basic, you are able to buy and unlock items to customize your player with, and you are able to chat.

And you are right I really don’t have any sense of progression or gameplay loops for the game it is just a simulator where you play as a guest or sign up and play as a player and just be able to customize your avatar and get items.

I’ve pretty much just been developing the game and thinking of a new feature as I script and add it but now that you mentioned it. It is really hard on trying to think on what I could do to keep good retention. Like why would someone wanna play my game over the 100K Player Anime battlegrounds game, I am still thinking on how to make my game stand out at the moment with the core features and pretty just much been coding with no plan.

This game really started out as a simple project where you played as a guest and walked around the map and that was it. I thought I saw potential by expanding the game into something even better and I still do think that but at the moment I am thinking of features I can add that can stay authentic to the guest experience while also being fair and fun to both guest and players but now I am adding onto how they will keep players playing the game

I figured out what I wanna do with the game, and when I told someone else about the idea they said it reminded them of club penguin so now it got me thinking about similar games like club penguin on Roblox such as Meep City. What if I made an innovative game bigger and better than meep city. And no I’m not talking about copying meep city and making it better but the concept of my game and meep city has similarities. It sounds crazy but what if I made a game so good to overthrow meep city.

There’s a big map the player can explore and they can go to areas to do fun activites like racing, sword fighting, laser tag. They have their own customizable home. Guests gets to have the same experience as a player just with the exceptions that they will only get pre made outfits, pre made houses, quick chat, and non saveable data.

Instead of the game being cartoony and low poly the aesthetic is a more modern take on retro like how TDX does it in a way. The game is for all audiences so even a teen and adult can enjoy it as much. But then what would make my game different from meep city besides a different aesthetic and bigger map with more activities?

I serve the community, GOOD Moderation, I add more life to the game such as a weather system, tutorials, community made content, adding life to the character models making then expressive, etc.

What do you think?

Trying out a new aesthetic with combining different surfaces instead of it just being studs.

the game looks pretty good!! but i got feedback if you want…

so these days in roblox, usually pvp type games or meme games are popular, im saying that you should probably add some sort of engaging system in it like for example PVP, minigames, etc.

that way people would probably play the game more bc therw would be more to it

:+1: I do plan on adding minigames that the players can do in game

I feel like this game could become an everything game; there are so many things that you can implement here!

I can see this becoming big if you influence the right idea, maybe the top retro game, even.

Hello everyone!, I fully planned out how I want Guest Simulator to be and as AshEnigma stated it can quite literally be a everything game which is what I wanna do, I’ve pretty much just been building other things that are smaller just to ensure like this is something I can actually do, that I can actually build a map to the scale I want it to be which is why I’ve been working on this lobby for this small minigames game.

I feel more confident now when it comes for building everything especially since I’ve gotten this far in 3 days from a single part. But this is the art direction I will go for Guest Simulator ( Except it won’t be smooth plastic material it will have Studs and other classic surfaces )

Hello everyone sorry if I’m like really delaying on progressing a lot more on the game I’ve kinda given up on projects smaller than this one before but that was a long time ago, I have been able to put out smaller then bigger games this year and right now I am doing one more smaller game I’ve been working on before getting back to guest simulator which I think will really help me out for guest simulator with the experience I’m getting.

I’ve coded my own UI Framework which is easy to understand and all I have to do is just add a button then the frame the button can open and I set a attribute and don’t have to code anything extra and the button opens that frame, and to prevent overlapping I have a blacklist module made and I made UI animations and effects for it and this system will do amazingly for guest simulator.

I’ve also been working on a new way of making gamepasses better which I am working on right now using datastores. Players are able to buy gamepasses in game with in game currency and not have to use robux, plus they are able to get a free trial so they don’t have to pay anything and can experience having gamepasses for a limitied period of time.

And that is about it for now, So far now I am gonna post things I am working on in a smaller game to implement into guest simulator before working on guest simulator itself with even more progress on the game besides it just being the map ( the map layout for guest simulator is a wip anyways )

Other than that, have a great day everyone!
