I was looking through the inception pages in regards to upgrading New Member status to Full Member (since I’ve reached the six month threshold) and noticed a change in the wording of one if the FAQ answers then from the other times that I’ve read it.
Although this obviously still applies, I’m curious if the original message of reviewing new members after six months to see if they are ready for full membership has been changed or if the policy still stands.
Have I lost my marbles or has there been a minor adjustment in the style of handling the promoting of new members? Thank you all in advance for your responses.
AFAIK, the six month thing was never an actual rule–instead, it was meant as “By 6 months of active use, you’re probably ready”. I was promoted in about 4 months.
The 6 month trial said that after 6 months you could reapply to the dev forum. However, as far as I know applications are still really backed up and the process would be far too slow. You’re better off becoming a full member by contributing rather than through the slow application process.
Most new members I’ve seen move from new member to member didn’t do so at their 6 month period.
I asked the Top Contributors for a few months back and they told me the apply again after six months process was disbanded, however, if you want to be “evaluated” it’s just to send them a private message and ask how you’re doing and they’ll tell you what to do in order to become a full member.
@EchoReaper was the one saying this through private messages.
