I am receiving reports that people are using a certain hat to glitch out of maps in my game, essentially ruining the experience for other players. Here is the hat being used:
I think it’s because the hat’s handle size is so huge it’s like having a second character on your head which causes problems with the handling of a humanoid’s position while playing an animation. In my game there’s an animation that lets you float in the air a bit, and if you’re wearing a hat like this one you can go through the ceiling if you’re standing right under it.
I might be completely wrong on that, but the glitch only works while playing the floating animation + wearing that hat, so that’s what I’m guessing is happening.
ROBLOX does need to fix this, as it’s a glitch with their own assets which could potentially affect any game. It should not be expected for every single developer to have to account for a universal issue that ROBLOX is responsible for.
Really ROBLOX just needs to make hats weightless while they’re on the character, weighted hats cause too many undesirable gameplay effects across all places - higher falling speed and slightly impacted mobility in general, along with extreme cases like this.
This hat is so big that your character has trouble rotating when walking, but it also prevents you from toppling over in tight spaces. This can be used in MM2 to get through ceilings simply by climbing and jumping on shelves. People without large hats would trip.
