Hey! In my freetime I’ve made a fun little spin off of the popular gam “Geometry Dash” But adding my own features. Hopefully, you’ve player Geometry Dash before and know what it is. If not I’ll explain:
You’re a cube and you must get through a 2d obby, the easiest way to put it lol.
Please play and tell me what you think below!
Note: Yes I know, the game isn’t perfect, it’s jut something fun and small, but still, I would love to improve! Thanks for reading and have a nice day!!
PS: I’ll be in the game as well, so you can give me some feedback there too!
Hmm, the game is alright at the state that you have it at now, but it can be improved.
When I died 5 seconds into the game (I suck at obbies), I didn’t really have anything to do at all. I just sat there waiting for the next round to start. Maybe try to add a practice course, where people can practice their skills.
One thing that you could add is auto-scrolling and a wall behind you that kills you on impact. Not having auto-scroll is like having Geometry Dash without the Dash, a bad idea.
Another thing that you could add is a shop: people can go to the shop and buy colours and skins (Don’t make it pay to win).
Personally, I think that this idea and the project overall is very interesting!
I think it’s a great idea, but for me it’s much too slow. Like @xXThe_123Xx mentioned, auto-scrolling is a lot more fun and easier to control. Even if you do use autoscrolling, make sure it’s still fast enough so it doesn’t get boring after the first few jumps. Games like Geometry Dash and The Impossible Game (the ancestor of Geometry Dash) also need a good backtrack that matches the jump/landing points on beat, which makes it all the more entertaining and lively.
I would add a case where the game loop breaks when nobody else is alive or just allow players to respawn and play again after death. It just feels annoying having to wait over and over again. Also, maybe limit where the player can go in the lobby with invisible walls. Currently, someone can walk to the edge of the lobby (and because of how the camera operates), the player would see outside of the lobby.
Also, I noticed you walled off some stuff that looks like a shop, why?
This. Good minigame games put little attractions in the lobby to kill time.
