Heads aren't being positioned correctly in R6 avatars

Issue Description

Heads with asymmetrical shapes will not have the correct position in R6, it seems to be using the center of the mesh when positioning it, causing the head to be moved from it’s original location?

Reproduction Steps

  1. Try on the I.C. Snowman Head, switch your avatar to R6 if necessary.
  2. Compare the head’s position to its R15 counterpart.

Expected Behavior

I expected the heads to have roughly the same position as they have in R15:

Actual Behavior

The heads are moved far away from their original position while in R6:

Note: these aren’t the only heads affected by this, I’m just using them as example.

Unfortunately this is intentional because of how the R6 schema works. Unlike R15, R6 does not support arbitrary head part sizes or attachment positions, causing the mesh to center itself in the middle of the head’s hitbox.

Do you think they could add support for those features in R6?
It’s a shame only head accessories get the correct position currently…

Probably not, since R6 has been in a pseudo-deprecated state for several years and isn’t receiving any new features/updates aside from occasional bug fixes. R6 also does not use MeshParts, which is how R15 is able to have varying body part sizes.
