Help about airport

Hi. I have a problem with my airport which is that the interior looks too bland. I have tried playing with textures and colors but I can’t seem to achieve anything. Any ideas?

Note that I removed the shops on the right already.

Aha, thank you. I’ll be adding those tomorrow.

It could use more detail, for example those ceiling lights are just three rectangles, and the check in and luggage check things on the right look plain and gray. Give the airport more attention to detail. You could also add signs hanging from the ceiling.

A couple things:

  1. This looks like a local commuter terminal. This lacks signage. the idea of signage is that from any point in the concourse you should be able too see instructions that will help you to your destination.
  2. General feel of any concourse is that of an open space. Open Space - Vaulted Ceilings, wide walk ways, multiple parallel paths to get to your destination. Seats never against windows. Seats should be facing windows. You are lacking a sense of scale. You could have some huge support columns along the sides.
  3. Floor should be a solid color. You can use color variation to denote walk and waiting areas.
  4. This should be much wider and there could be two walking escalators in the middle of the walking area.

Modern airport design centers around the passenger seeing an airplane as soon as possible. You will notice that check ins, now have views of airplanes. While you are checking in you can see through a huge set of windows an airplane.
I would look at articles on airport design.

  1. The seats should not be elevated on a platform. Also a lot more seats.

I would recommend the following: Good design is cheap. Bad design will always plague you. Design is an iterative process. Apple creates 50 versions of a prototype. Not because it is easy, but because the last 20 are hard and that is where the greatest innovations happen.

Good Luck

Thanks all for answers, I updated it. how does it look now? (the stuff on the right is security)

From what I remember from the last time I was at an airport, there was a lot of vending machines, ATM’s, and advertisements on the walls. You should focus on adding those type of things. Your floor is the same throughout that photo, you should add more carpet mats or different flooring under the entire sitting area (I recommend the dark grey or dark blue color for it). Maybe add some restaurant stands or coffee stations and add rope barriers to make those stands more realistic (Airports are super populated, so line barriers are used for most stores in general). Other than that, this is pretty good. Hope this helps!
