Help and Feedback for a Struggling Game

Hello everyone!

I have recently released a revival of the original game “Imperium” and have spent many hours into improving/fixing many features of the game.

I have spent 1,289 robux on ads and 1,946 robux on sponsors (PC). However, I have not been able to get a constant player-base.

I’m not sure if my icon is attractive enough or the content is lacking, but any help/feedback would be appreciated.

These are some things I noticed with the 5 minute gameplay I had, please note this isn’t made to discourage your game or your work but simply to help encourage you to push your limits and seek higher limits!

Visual Design

  • Starting Menu when the starting player first begins the menu is very lets say confusing for someone who may never have played this type of game the User interface fails to follow a style and seems it may have been rushed.

  • Starting Menu music when i first joined i was introduced to what I thought was a cutscene of a army attacking a fort but instead the music was singing a sweet lullaby. I feel like there was a missed opportunity to have a cutscene of two swords clashing (Sound effect) as well as heavy music with a potential background cutscene playing in the background with the user interface.

  • When joining the main game visually wise it was very bare game as I could only see 2 NPCs which meant the game relied on heavily for player to player interaction to keep people entertained here which might be hard considering if the game is just launching.

  • Design of the main area feels bare and has no depth either it be in Lighting or Building when joining the game i didn’t feel encourage to explore my surroundings to seek adventure and to plunder riches across the lands

Example of how you could add depth

You could add depth by increase the heights of buildings, positioning, detail, scale, colour schemes to make the world environment something you’d want to explore.

Game Tutorial

  • At the moment the game tutorial was kind of a let down most of the User interface is very unreadable (Text) as well as some scenes not matching the tutorial at all. Maybe could add a frame behind the text so its much more readable and maybe scale the text.

some noticeable bugs

  • The reason you might have had problems with getting people to stay is the game failed 3 times to teleport me to the game place I had to re-join 3 times to get a chance to get in the game (This was while waiting 5 minutes to teleport) After joining the game once it fixes this issue and after rejoining the game instantly puts me into the game. (Don’t know the loading time but if it takes longer then 30 sec people might leave the game)

Thank you for your in-depth response, I will use some of these ideas to improve my game!

Also, in the thumbnail trailer, I used a more vibrant lighting which could be used in the real game. Do you think that type of lighting would make the game more worthy of exploring?

Hey! There is a lighting plugin i can recommend it is called Atmosphere it has some neat already packs of skyboxes + Lighting (Paid version / Non paid version)

Can access Plugin here (Paid Version)

At the moment you can fix lighting but I’d recommend to try and construct a more in-depth spawn area. When spawning the first thing that came to my mind wasn’t exploring as i could already see everything around me just from spawn i feel like adding more different types of trees, shrubs, rocks maybe even different villages will encourage players to leave spawn and seek adventure.

Another thing is, 3.2K really isn’t a lot of funds spent, you should spend at least 5-10K on ADs.

Thanks for the plugin! I’ll definitely try it out as well as add a new variety of plants. There are 3 villages and a few secrets around the Warring Kingdoms map.

Spending only 3k on ads is not enough if you want a constant player base, I recommend 10k robux at least.
