(HELP) Can someone explain what I just received in rbx messages?

Well Hello! Today i was scrolling down my roblox messages and saw that i just received some message from roblox saying this [Important] Right to Erasure - Action Requested

I got scared for my account when they they linked in some old game of mine that i privated and idk what that message means. Could somebody explain to me what that means? I would be very grateful. I saw on yt some tutorials for it but you need some plugin to do it. Plugin costs real money :V

Is there a way to fix it without plugin?

Right to Erasure is a legal concept in the EU (and other?) countries.

As a content provider (which you are, as a Roblox dev), you are required to remove any data stored in connection with that user ID.

If you have a datastore which saved playerdata, you’ll need to remove anything saved for that user.

If you don’t have any scripts etc. in the game or don’t know what a “datastore” refers to, you likely don’t have to worry about it.

Will I get my account in trouble or myself into legal trouble?

Not to mention, I have no reference or anything to this player in my game!
Yet, I got this message. What do I do?

Remove player from data store with remove async.

I don’t have any datastores

Where did I say that I ever used one?

No need to get defensive, I just assumed with the way you worded it

The message is automatically sent to every game the player has joined, since Roblox doesn’t have a way to know if you are or aren’t storing their data.

Confirm you don’t have ANY data storage in your game - ban lists, “cash save”, progress save system, etc. - if you don’t, you don’t have to do anything. If you do, you have to delete the data associated with the player’s user ID.

I only had API services on. That’s probably why.

I have a ban script though. (It isn’t affiliated with the user at all; instead a rulebreaker with their account up still.)

I mainly just ignore mine, Roblox doesn’t take action on it as far as I am aware.

This is INCREDIBLY risky, especially to admit.

Roblox doesn’t actively audit this, but if it ever does happen, you are in violation of the law. Real legal action can be taken against you by government regulators. You could face thousands or tens of thousands of dollars in fines, especially since you’ve admitted to knowingly ignoring these.

It would be a law violation? I thought it would be just be like a Roblox Moderation thing. I’ve seen other developers ignore them, and they don’t care.

When they mean they want someone’s data to be deleted, do they mean that the datastore inside that player violates something?

No it’s right to erasure. You have to remove any references to that player either it be data stores or text or anything else

Right to Erasure is a legal requirement. Note that the message Roblox sends out explicitly states - “This is an obligation under data protection laws.”

While it may or may not be a law in your country or state, if you have customers covered under these laws (which you do if you’re receiving these messages) you’re obligated to comply.
