Help getting started with UI in Photoshop

I have just started to do UI with Photoshop. I know nothing about Photoshop, though I have used GIMP and paint.net before. I need someone to get me started, show me the basics, and I’ll be on my way!

Yeah, what I mean by getting started is, what resolution should I start with? What size should I make the image? How should I export, import, etc.? That kind of stuff that usually gets known by experience.
