Hey, I’m excited that you want to improve with your GFXs!
From what you’ve provided it’s very difficult to give you good suggestions and criticism. It looks like you just took a picture of your avatar. Now, that’s alright to do and it’s certainly a start but if your goal is to “make it more professional”, as you stated in your description, your current method won’t be very good in the long run because you cannot do much in terms of posing, lighting, etc.
Now, because you’re newer to GFXs, I’d recommend you first start in Roblox studio. Try creating a new place and inserting a Roblox model. Add clothing, hair, and accessories with the tool box and pose the model with the different tools that Roblox provides in the studio. You can also play around with the lighting under the properties tab. By doing this, you will learn the basics to posing and lighting that are ESSENTIAL to become a bit more sophisticated with your graphics.
You can see here, this is one of my very first GFXs and I made it all in Paint.net and in Roblox Studio. Now, there are a lot of problems with it, but the important thing is, you can see that that there are shadows, lighting, and the character is posed. These important elements are absolutely necessary to make professional GFXs, and practicing these basics, which are unfortunately lacking in yours, can help you improve immensely.
Now, when you become a master at posing and fundamentals in Roblox studio, you can use 3D software like others have recommended. I highly recommend that you DO NOT go out and purchase some expensive program like C4D or Photoshop. You don’t need these to be successful. Instead, opt for free software like Blender and Paint.Net. Make sure you familiarize yourself with these programs. I taught myself through a lot of Youtube videos and a lot of trial and error. This is all a very difficult, though fulfilling, process and reaching out to developers, youtube channels, and forums will all help you through this.
This is now my most recent GFX. There is a difference of probably 6 or so years between this one and the previous one I attached here. So, learning how to do GFXs has taken a lot of time, and I’m still learning! I won’t lie, it’s been an uphill climb and there are times when I’ve been extremely frustrated but don’t be discouraged! This community, creators, and Youtube videos will be your friends when you learn. Feel free to reach out to me and I would be more than happy to elaborate and help you out!
