This might be the wrong category for this but I’m not sure where else to post it and I cant find anything like it.
Basically, I made a new game recently and by the time I was finally ready to advertise it on roblox, I noticed there was a new ad manager thing I haven’t used before and I gave it a try. HOWEVER, I put in $50 to the campaign for mobile and PC but nothing happened. Literally nothing. I thought there was gonna be a spike of players at some point but literally nothing happened and I don’t know if I was just scammed by roblox or what happened but any help would be great.
Yeah, that kind of advertising can be itchy. I learned the best way to get players in a game instantly is to make a free ugc limited and advertise it in game for a quest or mission, ex:(Joining a group/liking the game). You will instantly get over 50 players and it’s cheap!
I haven’t made one before Im just a programmer/scripter. It sounds interesting but I do wish the more traditional method of advertising worked because that’s more my speed.
This is the sad truth about how competitive advertising is… It’s expensive but it’s the best way to reach a large number of players. Free UGC helps some but sponsorship works best (ofcourse depending on your target audience). $50 won’t get a whole lot of players unless your game already has a player base.
For a large campaign, if you want many full servers, I’d recommend putting aside AT LEAST $1000 for the entire campaign. $250 for the first day, $150 the next, slowly working it down to $50 a day until it runs out. If you trust that your game is very good and players will consistently return, you will double that money.
In my case it trippled what I put into it for sponsorship. Re-invest part of what you make back into ads/sponsorship. Advertise in discord communities. Hire friends to help you get word of the game to as many people as possible. You really need to be aggressive about it because the platform is much more competitive than you would expect.
If you can’t afford ads, do everything you can that’s free first. Build a sizeable community until you make enough to afford to spend large amounts on ads. Host frequent events to keep people returning. Certain games can get very lucky at the right time, under the right moon, with the right algorithm- without advertising. Sadly, shovelware games seem to get lucky the most.
You should get the unspent fund back into your ads manager. You can see your wallet’s history in Payment Activity,
Also, 50$ is alot for a single day. Maybe you could first get some analytics about your game by simply putting 5 ad credits at .01 just to see if you are at least in the benchmarks.
Hope this helped
