I want to make a similar avatar to this. What will I need to do? Will I have to use a StarterCharacter avatar and replicate the accesory onto where they need to go?

Great project to create a spider type avatar! Some practical advice to consider at this stage include the following:
To Begin with, StarterCharacter : Its a good practise to start using the model of StarterCharacter. It does however give you a good guaranteed base to start with.
Creating Accessories: To have the full effect, you will need to make or buy some spider body and leg accessories. Use Roblox’s own modeling tools or search the marketplace for a spider theme.
Position Accessories: When you copy over the accessories, make sure they are in the right position You also need to make sure the spider body will end up looking like its torso and those legs will attach properly so it looks realistic.
Use Animation: Ad. If you want to make some more movement, use the Animation Editor to animate your spider legs!
Testing: Always be sure to test your avatar in game to make sure everything works well.
