I’ve read more posts with the same problem, but I need to take action because my game is actively not being shown by the algorithm.
Game Name: “Flower Obby”
Searching ‘‘flower’’ is showing a ton of games with the same title. That’s even stranger! My game has more likes (and a better like/dislike ratio), and a LOT more visits.
Searching ‘‘flower obby’’ doesn’t show my game either, because the top searches are all popular (NOT FLOWER) obbies.
When my game had 4-5 players active due to advertising, it still didn’t rise on the search list.
It’s usually based on the daily active players that the game has as far as I know those games might have 10 active players compared to the 3-4 that you have. That’s usually how it’s worked for me.
I checked this but the games further up in the list with the same title don’t get any visits anymore in the last weeks.
My game also has some active players in the last days ( according to developer stats ).
These games show up higher and mine shows up at around row 17, 18
Listen, it takes some time and patience and soon it will get up there you kind of just need to wait and see how your player base grows as we can do nothing about this unless you somehow manage to get hundreds of players playing.
I’m not asking for an instant solution. I’m wondering if a game name change would help or something else because I have been waiting a lot. This has been a long-term problem for me.
In any case, the other ‘‘flower obby’’ with no daily active users and fewer visits should not be 5 rows higher than mine, so this post is also made to ask why this game shows up higher.
The reason it doesn’t show up is just random, your game having a few players and a few thousand visits isn’t really going to help much and the search results are always pretty random for small games.
Honestly don’t worry about it, the search list isn’t an accurate representation of the algorithm.
If you’re really worried about needing to change your game up, try running sponsors with a few different icons/names, and choose the one that performs the best.
The issue is that obbies are a heavily saturated market. There are hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of obby games, and so your own just might not be the one to get picked out of all of those.
Your best bet to getting the algorithm to find your game, is through advertising and sponsorships, otherwise, your game is no different from the sea of other obby games.
