earlier, my studio randomly completely froze, but it didnt crash and close itself. i used task manager to close it and apparently that doesnt count as a “closing incorrectly” or whatever to let recovery files stay (why do they get deleted anyways? terrible idea)
it got deleted so good that even a deleted file recovery tool couldnt find it.
im the kind of person to get completely unmotivated if something goes wrong, and i no longer have a good chunk of what ive been working on. its a small thing specifically but itll never be the same again as i was making animations and union models. and most likely i wont want to work on it again.
i know i should manually save often but i wasnt thinking about it at the time and i usually save often when working on scripts.
is there ANY possible way at all to get the file? this is extremely upsetting to me and i have a feeling i wont want to work on the game again because of this.
whats even the point of deleting recovery files anyways? this is a terrible idea and has no reason to exist unless you actually click the delete button for them when you open studio.
As far as I know Studio automatically saves files in its default settings. Check autosaves set up in Studio settings and it will tell you where the file location it saves to.
If you didn’t have it set up then I can’t think of why you’d have a version saved.
You can set up autosave time intervals in Studio. Personally I use 5 minute intervals. It’s probably wayyyy overkill, but there have been a few times where I’ve had Studio issues and the minor inconvenience of Studio pausing for a split second every 5 minutes is easy to to deal with to save even going back and redoing that 5 minutes of work.
it has a “auto recovery file created” message every few minutes, i have the setting turned on, but after looking it up ive discovered that if you close studio normally, including task manager, the recovery files will be deleted.
Ah, I never looked into that.
Also, I don’t get an auto recovery file created popup every 5 min. The screen just locks up for a split second and if I’m doing something like typing in a name change for a Part it’ll kick me out of that Property.
