Help with attaching sword to character with Motor6D

My end goal is to have something similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn4jjGU7RDE

Now, I know how I could attach a single part with a motor6d, but my sword model has multiple parts. I’m unsure of how I should go about attaching this model via motor6ds to my character. Any ideas?

Edit: I attempted to weld the sword with normal welds, then attach it to the torso with one part of it and a motor6d. This is what happens. https://vgy.me/bxNkaJ.gif

Do you I understand you correctly? Can’t you just weld the sword together then connect the hilt to the hand via motor6d?

Oh. I thought if I welded it together, then it wouldn’t work in the animation editor. I will try that now. Thanks.

Oh lol that may very well be true. In any case the welding can happen outside the animation environment if need be.

So I would like to be able to animate a sword and it’s sheathe. I have the sword welded with Welds, and the primary part of the sword welded to the character’s torso with a motor6d, along with the sheathe (one part.) If I attempt to animate the sword by moving the primary part, it just won’t move. I can move the sheathe in the animation editor, but it’s movements are… really weird. I am trying to capture a gif, but my gif software isn’t working currently.

If you’re animating the sword, could you not creating an animation for the sword to sit in its sheath or on the back?

I don’t understand. I am going to have the sheathe welded via motor6d to the character’s torso, along with the sword. Look at my gif to see what I am trying.

Edit: Just realized the title said back. I just mean to the side of the character’s torso.

Hello, Moon Animation Suite which is made by @xsixx has a really helpful feature that lets you attach swords, guns or basically objects to your rig while animating. This may be what you’re looking for.

Thanks, I’ll try this out.
Edit: This looks like exactly what I need. I think this will work.

Having the same problem as I posted in the gif, with the sword not moving/rotating, when using moon animation suite. And when I create the motor6d weld between the handle and the character, like he does in the tutorial, the sword doesn’t move. All the parts are anchored. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

I’m not sure how they did it, but it looks like it’s more scripting than animation in it.

In the video, where the gun is bouncing around, that is scripting. But, I need to use motor6ds to make the sword transition smoothly from the sheathe to the character’s hand. I also think I might have fixed the problem of the sword not moving. I was mistaken. The parts are supposed to be unanchored, not anchored.

Edit: Yep, that solved it.

Great  Remember to mark the reply that solved your issue as “solved”

This can be done exactly the same way for swords. Follow all of the steps exactly, instead of the gun model use a sword model, and attach the sword Handle to the RightHand as stated in the tutorial.

This has already been fixed but something I might suggest is tweaking the scripts from this. How to animate Tool Parts (Guns, Knifes etc.)
although not everything is here there is a video covering all of it
