Help with deciding network ownership and model type of Spaceship

I’m new to making things the player can control. I wish to make a spaceship such that the interior and player character is located elsewhere from the ship. This will allow the ship to be smaller.

When the player uses WASD etc to move, it will move the spaceship. I’m wondering if I should be moving an anchored part with the rest of the ship unachored and welded to it, and I’m wondering if said part should have its ownership set to the pilot.

I’m also wondering if for any reason I should make the ship a humanoid.

Note that other players may wish to man some of the weapons, so their camera will be placed around the ship too. Do you forsee any problems?

Any other advice would be appreciated too, ways to reduce/tackle client/server lag, detect/limit exploits, simple/general implementaion steps, alternatives etc.
