The issue is I’m not sure what to decorate the build with, I’m looking for ideas on what to decorate this build with things that fit the style I’m going for.
I don’t know if this is what you want but you should try adding lights around the map and set the Lighting Technology to Future. You might also want to add Atmosphere and ColorCorrection to make things more interesting to look at.
Not entirely sure about the aesthetic you’re going for. Though I’d suggest possibly adding some crystals on the ceiling to break up the brown and green-grey textures, a healthy dose of green and purple could help.
I’d also suggest adding this. It’s a massive game-changer in terms of appearance.
Here are some critiques. Please don’t take them as an insult, they are just my observations. This is Roblox so you can build whatever you want.
It’s great that you’ve got a lot of items rotated so they don’t always sit 90 degrees to each other, but the angled wood beams and windows in a lot of the buildings seem really strange visually.
Posts and beams in even fantasy worlds are rarely made of WoodPlank material. The wood grain should be like they were cut from a single piece of wood, or a round post like a natural tree, with the grain running the long direction of each side.
All your window frames look like they are the same size. Sure the windows are 2x3, 3x4, 2x4 or just one section, but they all look very cut and paste. Try resizing your window frames a little bit more.
The bridges across the bottom pit are just one piece. They should have some structure to make them realistic like support posts and railings.
There isn’t access to your buildings. None have doors. Some are hanging from the walls, but there is no way for someone to get up to those ones. Maybe add ladders or walkways (not made of just single Parts) to the build. I see one set of stairs that leads up to a bunch of Parts ‘stuck’ to the cave wall, but there should be some structure to the ladder, and a railing on the stairs.
The tires seem out of place for something like this. I don’t see why they’d be used in such a world with no vehicles needed. They are also placed partly inside the items they are sitting on.
Also, from what I see the buildings are made up of only about 8 colours. 3 wood colours, 2 window colours, and 3 roof colours. Add a bit more variety in your colours and materials so it all doesn’t blend together.
I’m not sure exactly what you’re going for (visual-wise), but I would just add items like crates, plants, and other small things that help “fill” the build and make it feel more ambient and immersive.
Thanks very much for the feedback! I don’t take any of these as insults.
Do you have suggestions on what windows I can change and add to the buildings?
The build is nowhere near finished, the bridge part is just there so I know where to add the bridge. Same for the buildings, I didn’t add ladders and stairs and walkways yet. I only did the buildings and some testing around with decorations here and there.
That’s a really good point, I will change some colors around and add plants everywhere so all the stuff don’t blend into one.
yes I’m going to add plants it’s just not finished yet.
There is already lanterns everywhere throughout the map I just didn’t make them stand out a bunch
Since the buildings seems to have been constructed by people who only had access to random materials, scrap etc. then I’d think that the windows they found would be very random.
Just try some different window styles. Some with bigger frames, some with 1 pane of glass instead of multiple panes. Skinny windows, round windows, ship portholes, and arched windows could make it seem more realistic.
You have a build style from the other images you sent, and many of the parts in those images seem very random. Bricks, metal, and other materials could be used instead of only WoodPlank.
