Help with Dummy Template

Right now, I’m trying to model clothes / armors for my game. To do, that I imported the R15 Dummy into blender to have a template to build on, but it is all in one object. Meaning that I can’t select certain parts, such as Head or Left Hand. I am using Blender 2.8.

I’m not sure why you aren’t able to edit them but maybe I can help you out by showing you what I do.

First, I use AlreadyPro’s plugin to get an avatar. Make sure you have the body parts like “LeftHand, RightFoot, RightUpperLeg” because these are the parts you may move in blender. Next you need to right click the avatar in the explorer tab and find “export selection”. After you save it to a file, you need to open up blender and remove the default block, next go to “file” in the top left then go to import, go to Wavefront (.obj) and find your file. After it’s in blender you may start editing. To select a part, right click an arm or leg or something. To bend these you can either use the tool bar and move them or you can bend a let/arm or something using the edit option. I use blender 2.79 most the time and haven’t used much of 2.8 so this may be different for you. Anyway, you should click the part you want to bend then go from Object Mode to Edit mode, next click “Subdivide” (I do it 3 times but you can choose) and then click “Remove Doubles”. Next you should press Z to change the material to wire frame. After you can see everything in wires, you should move your camera to be even with the part you’re editing then right click on part of it so that it deselects everything. Next you need to hold Ctrl + Left click (hold) and drag over the part you want to bend. You should then have it highlighted and you can use the tool bar to bend and move the arm/leg to your liking.

Hope this helped, sorry for writing so much. Not able to upload images to help that way.

Not really sure how to help on that. Although, I love your idea of directly designing your clothes in 3D with Blender. I’ve never seen anybody do that. Maybe instead of directly importing the whole dummy, you could import parts one by one?

Sorry you had to type all of that out, I should’ve been more clear on what I needed, but will use this tip for thumbnail renders.

im having this same issue its really annoying ngl man
