Help with improving player session time

Hey, ive recently released my game 2 days ago, the session time is weird to be honest as sometimes it is 4-5 minutes and sometimes it jumps to 11 minutes. Here is the GAME. I have paid around 500$ usd so far in sponsors since the game was released, and have made around 15k robux only. I also currently have 2 search ads running for another 2 weeks and 1 sponsored as well. Each 15$ daily budget, so I am paying now around 50$ a day.

I am not sure what are my chances to get into the Algorithm? This is the past 7 days I am not sure if the stats are still wrong cuz the game was just released 2 days ago.

Appreciate anyone’s help, thanks!

Hello! I’d like to start by saying congratulations on releasing your game. It’s a pretty exciting thing to see your game get some players.

Before getting into anything in-game, I’m noticing that you don’t have funnel events. I seriously recommend adding onboarding Funnel Events to help get a clearer image of what’s going on with retention / session time. It would really help you to see whether most people are staying in game for 4-5 mins, or whether there are people staying for 11 and an equal amount leaving really quickly. I recommend adding these up to that 12 minute benchmark or so.

What I noticed:
When I first joined the game, it wasn’t abundantly clear what the goal was. I was prompted initially with a request to favorite the game, which can be a bit of a deterrent for some players, and I was immediately asked to make a gameplay decision. I HIGHLY suggest adding a tutorial, and making the lobby the starting place, before getting into any actual gameplay.

Part of the onboarding process is informing the player about how to play the game in a super manageable way. Currently the game doesn’t really do that, and that could make the game overstimulating for new players, especially when they have to make a gameplay decision.

I honestly don’t know how to help out much more than that, but I would bet your session time is very low on average due to some kind of inverse bell curve of players either staying for a full 11-12 minutes and then leaving due to simply wanting to play another game, and players who leave almost instantly.

Keep in mind that ads as a main source of players can do some weird things with the average session time, but I think it’s still important to treat this stat seriously and try to improve that onboarding / early game experience.

Let me know if you agree or disagree with anything, and feel free to ask any questions. I wish you luck with the game!

Thanks for ur feedback, I really appreciate it! Since this is like a story game somehow and it teleports to another server, similar to rainbow friends and break in, their session time is low, it’s like 8-10 minutes and I have seen other games have the same issue 6-8 minutes, So I think this could be the issue as well since my game have a lobby and gameplay place, not too sure about that. I was thinking to make a tutorial gui that will tell players what to do actually, yes thanks for that I will be adding this today to make sure players understand what to do. As for ads I have been told that it can ruin my stats, but I am trying to get into the algo, I also made badges as well to see if players are actually playing, like today around 240 people won the “survive 20 rounds” which is actually quite impressive to me.

Ah I see. That sounds good! Let me know how it goes.

Hey, I see that your game has 500CCU now. Is it getting pushed into the algorithm? What are your stats looking like if you don’t mind sharing?
thanks!

Hello, my game started to get pushed by algo on the 24-25th of march, my stats were super green. D1 retention like 18.4%, ARPPU around 320, Payer conversion rate around 2.2% etc… and QPTR 1.5%. I reached around 2k ccu peak on weekends. But now my home recommendations are decreasing, they were around 50k plays and now i only getl ike 7-8k plays. My D1 retention decrease to around 9-10%. and so did my QPTR. Someone told me algo pushes a game for 2 weeks and then it stops. Today is exactly 2 weeks of algo push.

The game makes like 400k robux every 72 hours on weekdays and 700k on weekends.

What will you do to combat the algorithm stopping recommendations? How much did you spend to actually get in the algorithm (ad credits) and how long did it take?

I spent around 1k usd over ads and made like 3m robux so far from the game. It took my game exactly 13 days to get a big algo boost. Right now I am trying to do some updates to improve my D1 retention because once D1 retention improves algo picks up the game by itself.
