Help with motivation and ideas

Hi! (this is my first post so if there’s any mistakes, I’m sorry)
I’m a small developer (I know, there are a lot of “small developers”). I’ve worked on a few games with my team, including two passion projects. One of those games, Death Wheel, was doing really well, I even got #3 when you searched up the game name. It was all great—until Death Penalty came along and took over the genre, causing my game to lose momentum and fall off.

(it now sits at 11k visits)

I also had an old gun game with a system from a friend (not sure where he got it), and I decided to use it for an old game I made called Combat Battlegrounds Reborn, but I gave it a new name and theme: Classic Battlefield Reloaded, with a classic style twist. Despite my efforts, it’s still not gaining traction.

I’ve tried advertising, followed advice, and more. Each time I do sponsored ads, my games do great on the first day, but interest drops off immediately afterward. My team and I even made a brainrot-style line game and promoted it, but it didn’t go anywhere either.

At this point, I’m feeling pretty discouraged and struggling to stay motivated, And I’m pretty sure my team is too. I’d love some solid advice on how to turn things around.

Your game never took off bro, 11k visits is nothing.

I’ve played all your games, didn’t like a single one, all of them had gamebreaking bugs or some junk to them, gotta step up your game, competition is getting tougher every year.

Honestly, with Roblox development, for most developers it takes a while for developers to have their games become popular. Except for a few cases, most developers have to go keep trying for a while to get a successful game. Me personally, I started as a vehicle livery designer for private servers in ER:LC, it took a few months before I got somewhat “popular.” Then after that I moved to clothing designing, it’s taken a good few months and almost a year, and only now have I begun to get a good amount of sales.

As you progress as a developer on Roblox, you begin getting better and better. You get a better understanding of what works and what doesn’t.

My best advice for you if you are feeling demotivated is to take a break on developing a game. Instead, relax a bit irl, play some other Roblox games, study what games work and what games don’t, and practice working on your developing skills. After you feel like you’ve become better at developing and feel like you’ve got a good idea, then starting working on a new game.

That’s what I personally did for both when I was doing livery designing and now when I’m doing clothing designing, and believe me, it worked pretty well for me.

11K visits is not a lot for a good game. It sounds disappointing when someone takes over your game but you can’t blame them your game is not a up to date Roblox game, more like a game that used to be in style.

Let’s wait and see until the “motivation isn’t real, you’re just lazy” crew comes in.

Yeah I’m not saying I’m gonna cry over another game that’s better than mine, 11k visits isn’t that grand or anything, compared to someone else.

thanks for the advice, I’ll try to focus a bit more on myself

Maybe restart by thinking about a game that YOU want to play.

— Do you really want to “Stand in line to buy a property in Egypt?”
— Do you really want to spin a “Wheel of Death” and wait for some random event?
— Do you really want to play another FPS game that is just like 100s of other FPS games?

Remember, games take a long time to develop. If you loose interest then you loose motivation.

Also, make sure your game is fun with only one player. You will be spending a lot of time developing and playing your own game until it becomes successful.

Yeah all you do on forums is yap about other games are bad. Good luck on becoming exposed in the future.

Don’t give up. If you have no “motivation”, and want to give up, then you don’t really want the success. If you wanted it, you wouldn’t ever give up, and would keep going regardless of how you feel. It’s just Roblox development, it’s not that serious, you can advertise on other social media. Make a game that other people like, not that you like. The player needs to like playing the game and they need to have a reason to come back to it.

Oh, yeah, because nothing screams “I’m so grateful” like spamming garbage comments on dev forum. Maybe instead of bragging about others creations are bad, you should focus on creating a personality that isn’t a complete turn.

I mean he is EvilTony, but I completely agree that he needs to be stopped, and I can’t believe he is getting likes for this!
