Help with the ideas process behind low-poly building and modeling?

To get right to the point, I can model assets pretty well, but I can never think of exactly what I need to make to have a map/build look good. Everything I can create with my own mind always ends up looking bland when put into studio.
I usually have one of my buddies help with building, but some personal life problems are getting in the way of their availability, so I need to take things into my own hands to avoid needing to delay an update or release.

this has probably been said time and time again (and also your question is super vague) but:
use references.

for example if you want realistic/satisfying looking visuals and environment, take a look at ghost of tsushima for example. can even find refernces directly from existing roblox games.
