When joining Adopt Me public servers via Roblox for the first time after installing the iPad or iPhone app, the game loads fine and sits at less than 1000 MB of RAM used.
When joining Adopt Me public servers via Roblox for the second time or more after installing the iPad or iPhone app, the game quickly rises to over 1400 MB of RAM used, and crashes afterwards.
The only way to solve this problem is to completely uninstall and reinstall Roblox (where it works fine for the first play).
This occurs on
- iPad 9th generation
- iPhone 11
for a player that has reported this bug to us.
This behavior is new, yesterday, October 24, 2024. We have confirmed that the reporting user did not experience it on October 23, 2024 or earlier. The only change we have made this week is a one-line change to enabled the Captures CoreGui, so we suspect this is new behavior introduced by a change from the Roblox Wednesday update or a fast flag.
Notably, if I join the game on the following devices with the reporting player’s data, Roblox never exceeds 1400 MB:
- iPhone 7 (stays < 1000 MB)
- Fire HD 8 2020 (stays < 1100 MB)
- Google Pixel 6a (stays < 1400 MB)
- This laptop (stays < 1400 MB)
…and other members of our team are not able to repro either. We don’t really have a good route to troubleshoot this ourselves, when all other older devices and the reported device have no problems when we test it.
