High Poly 3D Modeling tips needed

Hello! I am pandap153, you can call me pan, panda, or pandap.

Recently I have been inspired and motivated to try to start 3D Modeling via this thread.
Albeit being unsure what to use to model and to texture, I would like some tips on beginner (high poly) 3D Modeling.

Main Questions

What could I use to 3D Model?
What could I use to make textures?
What are some tips/tricks for 3D Modelling/texturing in high poly?

I also have a few ideas you may be interested in here.

Blender is the most popular program for modeling, and it’s free.

An external image editor like Photoshop or Gimp is best for texturing in my opinion, but you could use a texturing software like substance painter or quixel mixer.

Model with texturing/unwrapping in mind.
