I’m currently making a space game with a buddy of mine and I’d love to be able to make higher resolution space backgrounds. This would also allow us to design menus in an image editing program without worrying about losing much resolution. Or image quality.
Currently you can upload pictures in HD. (1024 x 1024). Do you an example on what kind of resolution you would prefer ?
1920x1080 most engines support this format. I don’t know why roblox doesn’t. I suppose I should say they shouldn’t compress the image quality as much as they are now. I’ve found somewhat of a bypass for this. But is like for it to be more efficient

1920x1080 would be helpful. You could make a full-screen background for a gui in an image label.
I guess there’s a hacky way to get up to 4096x4096 by splitting the image into 4 sections of 1024x1024 but that’s still very in-efficient and more time consuming
Noooooooooo
You guys are totally ignoring the fact the most players will be playing on their mom’s laptop, with a connection speed to match. Uploading images of such a ridiculous quality would seriously damage the quality of their experience.

Why is mom’s laptop always being picked on? My wife would most definitely have a high performance PC.
Segment the images and upload them like that.
That’s up to individual developers to base their textures to their own game. Do you think if tf2 were made 2023 that they’d use 512x512 or 2048x2048
