So what exactly should developers of games for younger audiences do after this update?
My game is aimed at kids around 5+, so realistically I don’t see how it’s supposed to reach 500 highly engaged 16+ players. Getting enough players for the algorithm to notice your game was already difficult before, but now it feels nearly impossible unless you’re willing to spend a huge amount on ads.
Am I understanding this correctly? We now have to pay for ads just to get 16+ users into a game that wasn’t designed for them, so Roblox can then decide whether to show it to the audience it was actually made for?
That doesn’t really make much sense to me. I feel like the only realistic option for small developers now is to build games that appeal to 16+ players from the very beginning. Otherwise, reaching the requirements needed to get your game in front of its actual target audience seems extremely difficult.

I feel like enough people lie about there age so advertising can prob work but we will see.
As long as it doesnt cost too much because you kinda all ready had to buy ads for the game to give it a chance
You could try making your game’s target audience 16+ year olds and after you reach the goal you may tranform it into completely different one intended for younger audiences.
I feel like it’s against Roblox TOS. Am i wrong?
I mean, I think one of the entire points of this update was to reduce the amount of games targeting younger users as they were very often low-quality cash-grabs.
Also, I don’t even think 5-year-olds should be on games, letalone online ones. At that age they need to be socializing in actual real-world scenarios and developing their brain, not being parented by a computer.
I agree, on the other hand younger audience is 70% of roblox playerbase. Reducing their count will mean less income for roblox = less income for developers, even ones who make 16/18+ games since Devex rates would drop
I feel like this will also affect those who simply take commissions, write scripts, do modeling, etc., since after this update, many developers will probably choose not to start developing games in the current situation and, therefore, will not hire anyone.
