Hikumi, little exploration game

inspired by kikiyama’s Yume Nikki, iltria’s flowers for my moon & Verdant Moon, hikumi is a little project i’ve spent a good few years tinkering with… i… sincerely hope you’ll enjoy it!!

finally someone who enjoys the true beauty of verdant moon :face_holding_back_tears:

Here’s some small feedback:

  • There’s definitely a lot of content in this (story-wise), and it’s pretty interesting to see character dialog, but please add a way to skip or make the text appear quicker. It gets tedious very quickly.

  • Dialog boxes take up a large portion of the screen and are a bit simple and bland. Should make it smaller (as well as the text inside) and refine the design a bit.

  • The Blur is much too strong, it’s nice to add some blur to soften stuff a bit but it’s just too strong and it looks weird.

  • Weird Z-Fighting in the ocean

  • Sunrays are a bit intense? Maybe try tweaking with the settings a bit, or just keep as is.

A lack of overall detail in the map:

  • It is nice as it is, and it’s a simple overall style, but simplicity does not mean it should lack detail.

  • I would suggest adding some variation to the trees - it’s just a single block for the leaves. Even then, you could just add some larger versions, rotated, etc. Can also add some bushes or grass blades here and there.

  • Not really much variation in the terrain, it’s just some flat land with the exception of the little beach.

  • You could add some wind effects, such as those wind lines and some wind ambient. Could also make the leaves from the trees flow in the direction of the wind. Rather than just being a large cluster of leaves falling straight down, contained only right under the tree. There’s also some windshake modules to make leaves move in the wind.

Overall super nice game. Nice ambient and everything, it’s just that it could do with some refinement. Most detail seems to be concentrated in specific areas, rather than everywhere.

And I did very much notice the verdant moon music (made in abyss ost/that one another anime idk).

remade the trees!!!

also, i was considering the whole… windshake module… but laziness got in the way qwq
moreover… i would say the blur is meant to be a bit too strong…
also!! fixed the ocean, and the sunrays are also meant to be intense… lore reasons :3
the dialogue box is decently sized on pc… it’s meant to be an homage to the dialog box iltria used for her games… did… you play on mobile at all?

the skip thing makes sense… but there’s the small concern that all dialogue will just be skipped without a thought!!! though… maybe i should implement that on second thought… yes…

mmmMMMMM I KNOW IT TOOK ME A MONTH (to reply) PLEASE EXCUSE ME QWQ

lastly, THANK YOU!! qwq
