Hinge Constraints shake uncontrollably on a car im making

  • What are you attempting to achieve? (Keep it simple and clear)

So i made some quick model for a car im workin on and im just trying to make it run and turn smoothly

  • What is the issue? (Keep it simple and clear - Include screenshots/videos/GIFs if possible)

so for some reason The hinge constraints i used on the wheels to turn makes the car Spaz out and start shaking uncontrollably.

(sorry if it has shite quality)

  • What solutions have you tried so far? (Have you searched for solutions through the Roblox Wiki yet?)

Ive Tried doing some research on others who’ve had this problem and how other people make their vehicles and so far nothings helped, changing the physical properties such as the mass, density, and elastic properties does nothing, the whole car except the wheels and seat dont have CanCollide turned on and most of the cars parts are massless except the main Chassis.

You may then include any further details.

this is how ive done my hinges, on the right show the parts included in the slim part which is connected to the Main Chassis and is Supposed to turn, its massless and has cancollide turned off and its hinge is set as Servo, it then has another hinge which connects it to the wheel with hinge type as motor, it spins the wheel normally but when i want to turn the wheel to steer it spazzes out.

These are the settings i have for the Servo hinges which are supposed to turn for steering.

These are the settings for the Motor Hinges which do work perfectly.

Here is the Script i use for Accelerating and Turning.

I was doing a search and noticed this post hadn’t been answered yet.
HingeConstraints aren’t the best for turning a car’s steering since they are a bit flexible.

Here are some things to try though:

  • Make the ServoMaxTorque much higher.
  • Don’t make the ‘Turner’ Parts Massless. Something about this causes the physics to freak out.
  • Put the ‘Turner’ Part at the center of the wheel so that the torque and offset of the wheel don’t stress that HingeConstraint as much.

I’ve found in the past that using Motor6Ds for the wheel hinges works with less flex, but unfortunately a recent update to physics makes them less smooth for controlling turning.
